Some Common Challenges Promoters Encounter // Lessons from Nigeria Radiotalkshow

On the 22nd of August, 2021 Promosteem Nigeria hosted their bi-weekly talk show for which i was privileged enough to be a speaker for the event. During the event i was to talk about challenges steemians go through as promoters of the blockchain and how we can overcome those challenges and move on and continue with our work.

Whiles many were able to make it, others couldn't and what i shared and what was learnt is something i feel that promoters out here need to here and know and understand and learn from it and improve and develop and grow so as to not give up when these things happen rather look towards the brighter future.

Promo Activities Report

The basic duty as a promoter is to take steem to the world, wherever you find, either to the neigbors, your school, your friends, your hostel, your social media platforms etc and this i see many do everyday and doing it quite well too however the issue is after the activities has been done the report of it to the community doesn't come out well as it should.

Many do not take time to report everything that happened during their promo, they fail to tell the story of how things went ad their results and everything, they spend less time with the post and more time on the promo and because of this one may passby the post and not even comprehend it. This makes it difficult for the promoter to get the necessary feedback to help them grow or improve or even get the necessary support for their post or work.

The way to go about rectifying this is to have time for your post as much as you have time for your promotional activities. If we cannot get what you did we cannot engage with you and this is so much important that not getting the necessary feedback can put you off and discourage you. So help us help you.

Curation Support

Well i get these complains quite often in my chat box on discord and on whatsapp and most often you will hear me say that do your best and keep on doing it and leave the rest to the curators, it doesn't matter how long it takes, they will definitely pass by so manage your expectations and find pleasure in what you are doing.

Yes going out there to sell the branding to others is not an easy tasks, and coming back to report it is not an easy task but you may not get support in terms of curation for every single thing you and so learn to appreciate the little that comes your way, be consistent in your work or activities as a promoter and help others so others can also help you.

Do not think that you have very small power and so that vote you are giving out wouldn't matter and so you wouldn't bother doing it. Learn the habit of supporting others through your personal curation support and others will learn to reciprocate in that same way. In the end the small drops will come together to make something meaningful to someone who will greatly appreciate the cents you gave him or her.

Internet Access and Charges

In our parts of the world and when i say this i mean the greater part of Africa, internet charges are quite high and good connectivity is quite hard to come by. Well recently Ghana was judged to have one of the best internet services in Africa and i am proud of my country but back to the point. Promoters face this issue a lot of times especially for individuals who may now be joining the community and may even do promo but can't report it due to some of these challenges.

What we can do is to know where we are, the state of our service provider and charges and to save or put a portion of our earnings from the blockchain into that. That is also a form of investment into the blockchain. Do not just take the money and use everything, you must plan for all of these things and so the promoter must have a well defined budget for activities, including printing of flyers, acquisition of T-shirts, internet charges and access etc.

This will make things easier for you in y our work and a a promoter and eventually as you keep pushing you will become familiar with everything and things will get a bit easier for you as you go on about things.

Projects and Innovations

This is the last topic i am going to talk about today. Promosteem is a wonderful community that is doing amazing on a daily basis, weekly basis and monthly basis. And these amazing work we are doing is as a results of people's innovative thinking, creative writing, and wonderful project ideas that has brought us this far. So i tell my promoters you have to also be creative and innovative in everything you do.

We have projects like the SDGs, Healthcare with bettervision, Steem Tech Club for the ladies, Steem on wheels for the commercial drivers, Steemcoffee shops for the entrepreneurs and coffee lovers and the list goes on and on. These wonderful ideas and projects are expanded to become one big promotional activity that is pushed and supported across the globe.

This innovations make our community stand out, it makes the individual also stand out, put you in a spotlight that can help you help others. And this is something that promoters have difficulty with. But try, keep trying, don't stop, don't give up, i am telling you today that if only you will make an effort to learn with every opportunity, attend all meetings and never give up, you will become a great promoter one day.
