The novel titled, "Things Fall Apart," is my favorite novel that I have read and enjoyed when I was in high school and also during my first year at a higher institution. The novel was written by Chinua Achebe to make people understand the Nigerian renaissance that occurred in the 1890s.

In the novel, there is a place which is called the Umuofia village, a lower class Nigerian tribe that includes Okonkwo's village of Iguedo, which is led by a wealthy and well-liked warrior who is known as Okonkwo. The Umuofia community is made up of nine other villages that are all connected. When he was younger, he defeated Amalinze the Cat in a wrestling match to uphold the honor of his community.

The Cat had not lost until his contest with Okonkwo, which lasted seven years. In contrast to his now-deceased father, Unoka, who was constantly borrowing money and losing it, leaving his wife and kids frequently without food, Okonkwo has no fear of blood. Unoka, though, was an accomplished flute musician who loved language and had a knack for it.

The town crier calls for all the community men to assemble in the market square very early in the morning one evening by striking the oge. A well-known orator at the gathering, Ogbuefi Ezeugo, declares that the wife of an Umuofia community man was murdered in their market by someone from the hamlet of Mbaino.

The people are furious and indignant, and Okonkwo flies to Mbaino to inform them that they must provide a virgin and a young man to Umuofia. The two villages will have to go to war if Mbaino refuses to do so, and Umuofia has a fearsome reputation for its prowess in battle and magic. Because he is the most fearsome warrior in his clan, Okonkwo is chosen to represent it.

In the novel, there is a fighter called Mbaino who is mentioned in Umuofia as a warrior who consumes palm wine from the first head he kills during combat. The elders give Ikemefuna, a fifteen-year-old boy, to Ogbuefi Udo as his wife, but are unsure what to do with the virgin.

Things Fall Apart is a novel that is full of inspiration based on the real-life things that happened before in Nigeria, especially in the Igbo land. Things Fall Apart is one of the popular novels that is read by millions of Nigerians, and I believe that I am not the only one that seems to love and take the novel as his favorite.
