The Blockchain Technology and How It Can Be Useful in Education, Why I'm Promoting Steem In My School

The blockchain is one of the powerful technologies that many businesses are beginning to integrate into their systems to help them work better. Industry experts have seen the power of the blockchain technology are convinced that it will be of great benefit to industries and businesses. I believe we are heading to a time where there will be mass adoption and global usage of the blockchain in all fields of work.

One area where the blockchain will help improve in future is internet of things(IoT) where devices are embedded with sensors, micro chips to connect and share data over the internet. Another area the blockchain will be used extensively is in the field of education where a lot of information is produced and recorded. The blockchain technology is noted for its immutability feature. With this, academic records stored will be very difficult to be altered making it the best system to store any educational information for many institutions.

Educational institutions can benefit immensely from this decentralised ledger technology in terms of securing student records. They can use it to keep track of students' training, grades, and finished courses, as well as their performance in each. If this is accomplished, forging fake certificates and tampering with academic records will be extremely difficult. When a large number of organisations begin to accept and use blockchain, educational institutions will realise the need to introduce courses on how to develop a blockchain.

Few people have fully realised the potential of blockchain technology and are considering embracing it. It is for this reason that we must continue to promote it. Some people believe and perceive it as a technology that supports cryptocurrency, but they are unaware of the technology's full potential and how it may be useful in other sectors of our economies.

Steem Blockchain has sphearheaded the rise of incentivised social media which is currently giving users Steem rewards. It is the first blockchain to power a decentralized platform(steemit) that rewards content creators and also give the chance to developers, entrepreneurs to build apps on the blockchain instead of developing their own blockchain.

With my steem campaign at school, I hope to educate both the school administration and students about blockchain technology and how it may help with academic work. I believe that my position as an ICT instructor will give me an advantage, and that introducing steem and exposing students to the various options it provides will be beneficial. It may take some time, but I'm hoping to spread the word with my weekly steem promotion around campus.
