Crazy Family Stories //Unusual Tradition : Contest.

Hello lovely people, hope you are well.

Family traditions help family members become closer as there is a bond they feel they share as the tradition they share is specific to them. Such traditions are carried on, on specific occasions.

Every new year when we were younger we used to do everything in our power to stay awake and catch the new year. We would tell each other stories or just sit around waiting. Sometimes we would play monopoly if we had the required number to enable time to move fatser. There were times when we would sleep and tell those who were awake to wake us up a few minutes to midnight. Haha, these were very few but there were times we just slept through the new year and awoke the next morning and just wished each other a new year.

The special tradition we used to do, mind you this was only me and my aunt as the rest of the people used to just cheer us on. We would go and pick drums from storage in the evening with the sticks and keep them in near sight. As it approached midnight we would collect the drums and on the strick of midnight, we would start drumming while wishing each other happy new year. Truthfully, I do not know how this tradition started but we found ourselves doing it each year.

We would drum so happily and it was our way of celebrating since there were no fireworks to watch. We would drum for about five minutes then we would stop and keep the drums and wish each other happy new year once more and goodnight. Then we would go to bed and sleep off happy we had caught the new year as we were starting.
