Happiness is actually hard to define for me. Each of us has different criteria of what happiness really is.
However, when it comes to parents. I think they have common ones.

To be honest, it was a bit hard for me to recognize what really could make my father joyful, for he was a quiet man and a secretive one. A man of few words to be exact. He didn't often express his thoughts or even his feelings. I just kind of guessed it all the time. My mother on the other hand is a very expressive person, it's perfectly easy to know what she desires. Totally easy.

When my father passed away, that was the time I realized what really made him happy. It was when I graduated from college, that I saw his wide genuine smile. He was so excited to escort me on the graduation day. So did my mother. They were more excited than me :) I felt so touched , and I felt like winning the lottery.

We had this activity during the graduation ceremony to give medals to our parents for a job well done in making us graduate from university, for all the hard work they did. I was so emotional giving it to them. I felt so blessed having them as my parents. Having my dad who was a carpenter and my mom who was a housewife struggled and strived hard to let me finish college. It was definitely fulfilling.

As the eldest out of six children, I did not fail them :)
I let them see how I thrive too for them. Their efforts were not wasted.
I made them the luckiest parents on Earth :)

As I pondered, it's not the material things that make parents jubilant but it's seeing their kids become successful and a better person day by day. They are aware of their imperfection, but that imperfection help them mold me as who I am right now.

Parents are the best!
