Hello steemit-family. It is my pleasure to participate in this wonderful contest.

INTRODUCTION

Children as we know are very wonderful creatures from God and of course, their importance cannot be either under emphasized nor over emphasized.

As a matter of fact, a family that lacks children, do not have a guaranteed future. That it while we as steem-family, as we write about the roles of children, we should also remember the families that are trusting God for the fruit of the womb, that God in this season will remember them for good and bless them accordingly.

THE ROLE OF CHILDREN IN THE FAMILY

Children play vital role in the family. Few out of many of those roles are:
*Domestic chores: children help in the area of doing home related works like sweeping the house, fetching water, washing the plates, etc
*Parent surrogate: Children especially the elderly ones play the representative role to their younger ones most importantly when their parents are not around. Those that are of age can prepare food for their younger siblings and feed those that cannot feed themselves. Example; when we were much younger, my elder brother played that role very well, being that my mother combined her work with education, she was not always around while my dad had already gone yonder. My brother really aided in doing most of the house work and caring for his younger ones.
*Home Teachers: Brilliant siblings can equally help to teacher the other siblings in subjects that they know very well. My elder brother is good in some subjects like mathematics, he helped to groom some of us in assignment, internal and external examinations.
*Protecting their siblings: Children play the role of protecting their siblings from external attack or intimidation. My elder sister played this role very well, in that she never allowed/allows anybody, be you who to maltreat her siblings, whether elder sibling or younger sibling, especially in during our primary school days. This will in turn make siblings to love themselves More.
*Representative role: Children are ambassadors of their family of the values, principles and norms that are been inculcated into them by their parents. This helps to present the family well and increase the rate of bonding between parents and children.
*Reconciliation role: Children know no bound in relationship. That is why some elderly friends may be having issue, the people that will make them to reconcile will be their children, of which the children may know nothing about their parents fracas.

CONCLUSION

These roles and more help to Foster healthy bonding between parents, siblings and family friends.
