Food Crisis

Food crisis has become an existential threat to human beings across the globe. The world was already facing food scarcity due to climate change and COVID-19 pandemic. The developing countries are struggling hard to overcome these crises. Russian Invasion of Ukraine has exacerbated the situation. Prices of the commodities have increased unto 58.5%. Consequently, eight hundred million people are facing chronic hunger. Three hundred and twenty-three million people have thrown into starvation. Coming food catastrophe is threatening the human beings. Record hike in price of day to day using items have affected the living standard of human beings. People living in developed countries are, rarely, meeting their basic needs. However, people, in developing and in underdeveloped countries, are facing severe hunger. This is the need of the hour to take vigorous measures to counter the food crises all over the world.

Climate change has impacted almost every sphere of life. People are facing extreme temperature, irregular rain pattern, health issues and food crisis. Excessive floods and abnormal raining pattern have impacted agriculture yield. Owing to reduction in agriculture yield, prices of food are increasing day by day. Most of the people are reluctant to buy expensive food for their lovely ones.

Consequently, people are bound to eat unreliable food. Owing to that, people are suffering physical and mental health issues.
Besides, COVID-19 pandemic has far-reaching impacts on almost every sphere of life. Countries faced long-term lock-downs and restrictions. People lost their job. While supply chain disturbed owing to restrictions and lock-downs. Countries closed their borders.

As a result, a huge spike in food prices happened. African countries faced famine. They were bound to eat and to drink unhealthy and unhygienic food. Covid-19 worsens the deteriorating food crisis. People were facing acute hunger across the globe.

In addition to it, ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine has aggravated the food crisis. Both countries are agriculturally rich. Many countries are dependent on them for wheat and other day-to-day use staple commodities. Now, they are not exporting agriculture yield to other countries. Their priority is to feed their population during war. This invasion has impelled 1.2 billion people to food crisis. The invasion is, directly, impacting world food supply lines. People are facing dire changes in daily lives. Underdeveloped countries are grappling with acute hunger owing to ongoing invasion.
