Also attending with him was the Vice Rector for Public Administration and Finance; Dr. Mukhlis, as well as the Head of the Information Technology Masters Study Program; Dr Dahlan Abdullah.

GeNose is Gadjah Mada Electronic Nose COVID-19 (GeNose C19) is an artificial intelligence-based rapid diagnostic test tool to detect COVID-19 through exhalation developed by Gadjah Mada University. People using this tool simply exhale into a disposable bag for GeNose to analyze within three minutes. GeNose received a distribution permit from the Ministry of Health on December 24, 2020 with RI number AKD 20401022882.

According to Dr. Fajriya Wahyuni, one of the doctors serving GeNose examinations at the Health Clinic Malikussaleh University, based on the tool manual, it is stated that GeNose works to detect Volatile Organic Compound (VOC), which is formed because of Covid-19 infection and exit with the air through a breath into a special bag. After that, the breath is identified through sensors which then the data will be processed with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

"In this examination through GeNose, if in the first (exhalation) examination a person gets a positive result, then the examination is carried out again with an interval of 30 minutes, if then the examination is negative, the examination will be repeated for the third time, also after a time interval of 30. minute. The results of the third examination will be used as a benchmark for people who experience the examination. If on the third examination the result is positive, then that person will be asked to do a PCR examination,” explained Fajriya.

"Examination through GeNose and the antigen swab test have the same sensitivity if a person is detected positive in the GeNose examination, then that person will no longer undergo an examination with the antigen swab test, but immediately undergo a PCR test," she concluded. []
