Imam al-Gazali (died 1111 AD) Born in 1058 AD or 450 Hijra in the Ghazalah area, Tusi in Iran. was a prominent and well-known scholar in the Islamic world who gave advice through questions. Imam al-Ghazali advised his students to be aware of the following 6 things, namely about what is closest, farthest, heaviest, largest, lightest, and sharpest. If we ponder, the advice is very meaningful advice. If a Muslim realizes what Imam al-Ghazali said, God willing, he will be a good Muslim in this world and the hereafter.

Here is Imam al-Ghazali's full advice:

1. The closest is Dead

When Imam al-Ghazali asked his students, "what is closest to us in this life? Among his students, some answered his parents, teachers, friends, and relatives. Imam al-Ghazali then explained that the closest thing to is "Death" because death is God's Promise that will surely befall all living human beings.

2. The farthest is the past

Imam al-Ghazali explained that the furthest is the past because after all, we cannot go back to the past. Improve yourself for a better tomorrow, thoughts, actions, advice, and suggestions so that others can be a positive guide for other people's lives, not the other way around.

3. The greatest is lust

The biggest challenge we have to face is controlling Lust.. Often Lust plunges man into the abyss of filth until his life in the world is destroyed, and punishment awaits after death.

4. The hardest part is to bear the trust

Plants, animals, mountains, and angels all do not want to accept when Allah SWT. asked them to become caliphs (leaders) in this world, but human beings arrogantly undertake the request of Allah SWT., thus causing many human beings to go to hell for not being able to bear the Trust.

5. The easiest is to leave the prayer

Just because of a small busyness, people are willing to abandon prayer. Prayer is a pillar of religion. If humans only live to seek food and pleasure then there is no difference between humans and animals

6. The sharpest is the tongue

With the Tongue, a man hurts the heart and hurts the feelings of his brother. Imam al-Ghazali said, In Arabic proverb, "If the sword hurts the body there is the hope of healing, but if the tongue hurts the heart where is the medicine to be found."

That's a wise saying about the danger of the tongue, if not good at controlling it, between safe and dangerous. Hopefully, we can control according to good expectations for ourselves and others.

We hope that there will be new figures who follow al-Ghazali. Hopefully.
