RE: ᔕᑕᗷ Communities Visibility - subtopic Communities

Like @mikitaly, I have to admit that I know nothing about such plans. Maybe you can put some links in the post so we can understand.

To the topic:
You cannot remove the communities from Steem because there are no communities on Steem. The communities were built as a function for Steemit and are provided via Hivemind.
You could theoretically make communities ‘invisible’ from Steemit, as it also done for users and posts. The posts and comments are then not delivered by Hivemind. However, I am not aware of any such plans.
And if that were the case, there are alternative frontends that you can use. Steemit Inc. can only mute or blacklist on Steemit.

I am not talking about removed communities but communities not being visible.
As I opened a new hive I noticed the list of communities I was able to subscribe to was short. I also noticed that this community wasn't in the list and neither was my community Tales & Stories. So that is what my question is about. How come I couldn't find these two and several others as well? Since I know where to find them I can subscribe but the question is why they no longer show (so invisible in the list that shows if you are looking for communities to subscribe to).

If this happens with more communities (not too active, or recently started or ...) this means these communities do not make any chance and every newcomer will or can only subscribe to those communities which show unless they bump into it coincidentally or these communities find a way to actively promote themselves (if so will this be seen as spam?).

I leave it for now. This is one of Steemit's issues and for sure most will not notice it because they will never use that list unless they search for a certain community or are new.

Thanks so far for the response. The remark about "cleaning up" the communities I read about 1 month ago and didn't save. I also didn't check how or what or if it would concern me.

A great day to you.

but communities not being visible.

I misunderstood that.

I noticed the list of communities I was able to subscribe to was short

I guess, you mean this "Explorer Communities" function: https://steemit.com/communities
I think this search, as well as the search in general, is unfortunately not very helpful.

I also noticed that this community wasn't in the list and neither was my community Tales & Stories

Do you mean this community: https://steemit.com/created/hive-169911

How come I couldn't find these two and several others as well?

I think it's the search function itself. It urgently needs to be updated. However, I don't yet know how time-consuming it will be.
In any case, I am sure that no communities are deliberately hidden. In this respect, I can perhaps reassure you at this point.

Thank you for the info.

It indeed is hive-169911 - I also noticed this community just like others and other accounts has a hard time to unpin and posts (it doesn't show) and set notifications as being read (it shows up again).

I will see if the guess of stef1 is the reason (not active enough although I see other communities shown with the same "activity" but I guess it's the search function - can be also in combination with a slower connection or?

A good weekend to you.
