বাংলা নববর্ষের শুভেচ্ছা ১৪২৮ (Bangla New Year 1428)

আজ পহেলা বৈশাখ। আমরা, বাঙালিদের নতুন বছর, ১৪২৮ এর প্রথম দিন। প্রতি বছর এইদিনটি খুবই আনন্দ উল্লাসে কাটানো হলেও, এই বছর সেইসব আনন্দ আয়োজন হচ্ছে না। একদিকে রমজানের রোজার শুরু আজ অন্যদিকে লকডাউন।

বাঙালীদের পহেলা বৈশাখের ইতিহাস অনেক পুরানো। শুনা যায় সম্রাট আকবরের সময়ের, তার অধিনস্থ রাজা কৃষ্ণ চন্দ্র প্রথম নাম বাংলা নববর্ষের সূচনা করেন। এই ব্যাপারটা যতটাই না ধর্মীয় তার থেকে বেশি অর্থনৈতিক। এই দিন রাজা তার সকল প্রজাদের থেকে খাজনা আদায়ের উদ্দেশ্যে সবাইকে রাজ বাড়িতে ডাকতেন। যেহেতু রাজ্য ভর্তি মানুষ ভিড় করতো রাজ বাড়ির মাঠ প্রাঙ্গণে, তাই রাজ বাড়ি ঘেসে বসতো বিভিন্ন পন্যের দোকান। আর সেই থেকেই নববর্ষের মেলা আয়োজনের চলটা শুরু হয়েছে।

রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন স্থানে "চড়ক" আয়োজন করা হতো। আর প্রজাদের মধ্যে যারা খাজনা দিতে পারতো না তাদের পিঠে বরশী গেথে গাছের মাথায় বেধে ঘুরানো হতো। আর এইসব দেখতে মানুষ জনের ভিড় সৃষ্টি হতো আর সেখানেই মেলা বসতো, যেটাকে "চড়কের মেলা" বলে চারদিকে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে।

পান্তা-ইলিশ বা নানা বাহারি খাবার কখনই বাঙালীর নববর্ষের অপরিহার্য খাবার ছিলো না। কেননা আপনি এইসময় বাজার ঘুরেও ইলিশের দেখা সহজে পাবেন না। পেলেও সেটা আমার মত সাধারণ মানুষের নাগালের বাইরে। মনে প্রশ্ন জাগতে পারে, "পান্তা-ইলিশ কি আমাদের সংস্কৃতি নয়?" বলতে গেলে অনেকটা না। কেননা পান্তা-ইলিশ কিংবা নানা বাহারী খাবার, নবাবদের জন্য তৈরি করা হতো। আর সেই থেকে চলতে চলতে, সেটাকে কিছু সভ্রান্ত বাঙালীরা সংস্কৃতিতে রূপ দিলো।

পরিশেষে, বাংলার নববর্ষ যতটা না ধর্মীয় তার থেকে বেশি এইটা অর্থনৈতিক। নববর্ষের সাথে ধর্ম কিংবা ধর্মের সাথে নববর্ষ জুড়ে দিয়ে বাংলা নববর্ষটাকে ধর্মীয় দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে না দেখলেই সবার মঙ্গল।

The history of the first Baishakh of the Bengalis is very old. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Akbar, his subordinate King Krishna Chandra first introduced the Bengali New Year. This is more economic than religious. On this day the king used to invite all his subjects to the royal house for the purpose of collecting rent. Since people from all over the state used to gather in the courtyard of the Raj Bari, the Raj Bari was surrounded by shops selling various products. And since then, the process of organizing New Year's fair has started.

"Charak" was then organized in different parts of the state on the occasion of collection of rent. And among the tenants who could not pay the rent, they were tied to the head of a tree with a spear. And to see all this, a crowd of people would gather and a fair would be held there, which was called "Charak's Fair" and spread around.

Panta-ilish or various delicacies have never been an essential part of the Bengali New Year. Because even if you go around the market at this time, you will not find hilsa easily. Even so, owning one is still beyond the reach of the average person. The question may arise, "Isn't panta-hilsa our culture?" Not much to say. Because panta-hilsa or various external dishes were prepared for the Nawabs. And from then on, some aristocratic Bengalis turned it into a culture.

After all, the Bengali New Year is more economic than religious. Religion with the New Year or religion with the New Year throughout the Bengali New Year from a religious point of view is not good for everyone.
