Kankana Sen Sharma is a very favorite actress. A Death In The Gunj was Kankana's directional debut movie. The first movie was a great work. This movie is a reflection of reality. The movie was first screened at the 21st Toronto Film Festival and also at the 16th Mumbai Film Festival where Kankana won the award for Best Female Director.

The movie stars Ranveer Shore, Kalki Kochlin, Vikrant Masei, Tilottama Som and many more including the late Om Puri. The story of the movie is based on a true story which was written by Mukul Sharma (Kankana's father) in the form of short story. There was a readily available approach. Those who communicated in letters could be nostalgic watching this movie.

The story of the movie gradually progresses by introducing different characters. Vikram (in Ranveer's voice) is that angry nature. Her Zulfi and hair style is a symbol of masculinity in the 80's. Mimi (Kalki Kochlin) is seen enjoying her sex appeal to seduce men.

In addition to these three central characters, some other interesting characters are a sweet 8-year-old girl who is a good friend of Suthu, everyone's favorite Anupama Aunty (Tanuja) and OP Uncle (Om Puri).

Kankana has never compromised for perfect casting in the movie. National award winning actress Kalki Kochlin has also had to audition twice for this movie. I will say one thing about the movie, it is a beautiful and clean movie. In fact, this movie is a combination of calm, clean and mystery. At the same time, family bonding has also emerged.

Coming Age Drama is very popular in Hollywood, but there is no such thing as a good film in India. This is a big break for Vikrant month. The boy has played a great role in the lead role.
