Steemit Engagement Challenge - S3W4 / The Past Machine by @afunkycares

Hello, friends of Stars of Steem . It's exciting to be here with my entry on a first time in this beautiful community. Hope you all enjoy a great time here?

Introduction

The engagement theme for the final week of the Season 3 is quite an interesting yet thoughtful theme. We are to use a Past Machine to travel to the past and change one thing we would like to correct.

I find it both fun and emotional, and I shall share what it is I would love to change.

This opportunity is such a unique one . If I would travel back, it would be to my secondary school while I was in my final year. That was year 2011 when I took the utme. This is the first exam, as prerequisite to gain admission into Nigerian university.

I would change my course of study for the first time I took this exam.

This is because making this change would have saved me more than 5 years of the pursuit, my first degree would have been achieved and my educational journey fast.

On a Saturday in June 2011 , I wrote my first utme after choosing medicine and surgery as my first and second course. It was just the only course I was interested in. Right from childhood, I have loved to work as a medical professional as long as it is a profession where I can save live and care for them.

So all I was interested in was medicine. I took the first utme, met the cutoff point yet no admission, this repeated for three years. In the third year, to avoid wasting the exam result, I went for a National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology, a 2 year programme. I worked for few years. I still wasn't feeling fulfilled.

My passion is to care for lives. So I made enquiry on other medical professions: Nursing, Medical Lab Science, Physiotherapy, Dentistry etc. Finally, I went for nursing. I took the fourth utme . Wrote the post utme too. And alas! I made the merit list for admission. I was glad to pursue my passion finally.

I am currently running a degree in Nursing/Midwifery (BNS). I am happy I'm in line with my passion. I will definitely finish strong 💪. If I knew this is the field where my passion will be achieved, I would have chosen the course the very first time I wrote the utme exam. By now, I would have been practicing and fulfilling passion. There are no regrets though, just thankfulness.

Conclusion

In conclusion, with the special past machine, I would gladly travel to my educational past, during my first utme registration in early 2011 and alter the course of study from Medicine & Surgery to Nursing/Midwifery. It would mean a lot to me☺️.
