"Will you accept the unwritten rules in order to succeed? "

Rules that come with written/documented law and order are guiding steps and means to achieve decency in society without having to breach one's space. One man's comfort zone may be another's limitation, and hence, this is what written rules bring to the table.

Unwritten rules come with unguided prize tags and unforeseen problems that are associated with them. Just as we know, it is easy to adhere to and shortcuts to achieving what we desire, but most of these channels are not only illegitimate but come with some illegality that compromises our morals and dignity.

Any official and corporate entity does not thrive on unwritten rules as this not only jeopardizes its brand but also exposes it to sanctions and penalties capable of gulping its transactional fortunes. There is no legal coverage of exemption that allows victims to walk away freely or get compensation for misfortunes during such duty.

I will narrate a true life story that happened some time ago in a sister company. This happened actually. Jn a financial firm (bank). This young and handsome-looking man was employed and he was so dedicated and hardworking. And we all know that in such a corporate firm, there is always a limit to what one's JD should be relative to their roles.

As a contract staff of the company, he should be limited, but he started carrying out functions not permitted to be available to him. But due to the fact he needed to please his line manager and as well show capacity, those off-scripted duties were done by him. This has continued over time, and the worst of this was that, officially, he was on his own.

On that given today, where the price for unscripted or unwritten troubles showed up, it was all a pitiable scene. At this point, his life was gone and insurance did not cover his activity because he was doing a task not legitimately assigned to him. He was doing off-duty activities without due diligence.

The only thing that was due to him was a sentimental package to his family and his line manager was tried and dismissed from the job. It was a complicated situation for all that were involved.

I know that sometimes we try to get engaged with off-duty jobs just to make quick cash, but this sometimes goes west and affects us. In the case of this young man, he was tipped and promised maybe promotions which ended him sadly

In summary, let's endeavor to stick to written rules. When troubles show up during unwritten rules, we hardly get the best out of them. We lose rather than gain from them thereafter. Or all the little gains we make are lost, if not more when the table turns. Let's always ensure all we do are well regulated and signed off properly and desist from sharp practices that don't end us well.
