RE: Will you accept the unwritten rules in order to succeed?
A scammer breaks rules and it must benefit otherwise not that many would do it to succeed fast.
The hardest about success is that it is only measured by personal standards. When is it we are successful which part of this success will still be a success in 10, 20, 35 years or if we die? Will everyone grieve and say: we will miss this successful banker or will they cry and think back, cherish the most beloved friend they had? Chasing for success out of envy, greed to look more successful... How long will that be? Will such a battle ever end? It sounds exhausting and a lost game at forehand. A lost game and waste of time and energy.
There are too many unwritten rules we follow out of habit, it limits the freedom to be creative. I also don't believe there's a need to stick to each one of them.
For sure the so called most successful ones never did. They lie, cheat, play dirty tricks to be that number one (while watching their back) live and let live is no part of their strategy. Like the idiom says: in love and war everything is accepted/allowed.

The question is always whether these unwritten rules (it is and remains nonsense: either they are rules, in which case they are written, or they are social expectations, a consensus of values or simply habit) make sense and correspond to your own values. Then you can follow them with a clear conscience - you don't always have to swim against the tide. But as soon as this is not the case, e.g. as soon as these unwritten rules are used manipulatively to promote certain behaviors, then...
