"The most touching true story you know??"
One of the most touching real story I've known is that of Mary, a childhood friend who was diagnosed with a rare illness at a young age of 14, an illness which kept draining her of everything she had in form of strength.
We were close friends as children so I noticed each turn this illness took on her though she never let it show. We always called her the happy child as she was always happy and this happiness extended to those around her. Instead of giving in to despair, Mary, with strong determination, embraced the challenge that life had thrown at her and decided to make the best out of it.
As the years went by, Mary faced countless hospital visits, surgeries, moments of extreme pain and at some point, the hospital became her second home. Yet, through it all, she was always full of an inspiring optimism that touched everyone she encountered starting with the doctors and nurses.
Her infectious laughter always echoed through the hospital corridors, uplifting the spirits of both patients and medical staff alike. Mary's intriguing ability to find joy in the midst of so much pain and adversity became a form of hope for those who shared her journey especially her parents.
Mary's life took an interesting turn when she discovered her passion for art. Despite all physical limitations that would have discouraged the most resilient souls, Mary didn't let any stop her as she picked up a paintbrush and began to create masterpieces that exceeded the boundaries of her illness.
Her paintings were vibrant and full of life, and this became a symbol of her victory over adversity and also, it became an inspiration for many others facing their own different battles.
Mary's story is not just about overcoming physical challenges; it is more about the beauty of the human capacity to thrive against all odds. It's a story that teaches us that the most profound strength is often found in the most gentle hearts.
Through all her trials, Mary stayed positive as she showed an unbreakable persevering spirit.

After learning of this story, resilience and courage became my watchword. In all I do, I try to make the best out of it no matter how challenging it may seem. Mary has indeed taught me and many others a lot, so much we would hardly ever forget.
