Tell us what you know about the Chinese New Year.

Hello steemfam, today we would be speaking on the Chinese New Year. We must have probably heard of this before among friends, on the internet or in a movie and then became particularly curious.

I can very much attest to this, when I first heard about the Chinese New Year, I began wondering if China had a different new year from the rest of the world. Probably, the time difference from the rest of the world is too huge or they just have a different calendar from.

Apparently, those speculations are not exactly true. If so, then what's so different about this New year celebrations and why is it so popular? This piece would unravel all the uncertainties.

The Chinese New year also known as the lunar year or the spring festival is mostly celebrated in China and most parts of Asia but it has now been adopted and recognised in most parts of the world.

Just like the general new year celebrations all round the world on the first of January, the Chinese New year is also bountifully celebrated with friends and family members all round the world. There is decorations and presentation of gifts, food and many other fun activities. Just like a national holiday.

But unlike the regular new year, the Chinese New year is quite unique. It does not have a specific date for it's celebrations. The day may defer yearly depending on the lunar calendar but it falls in the year of the dragon.

The decorations are also unique basically red and gold and also the presentation of red envelopes containing money bills to the younger ones.

This choice of colour has a particular connection to a popular legend of the Han Nation.
