Last Month everyone was worried that we were going to have a shortage of Pumpkins this year!😮
Now they are stacked up everywhere!😊
Grocery stores, seeing this shortage, started charging exorbitant prices for these orange globes!
Some of the smaller “ sugar, pie pumpkins” are excellent for pumpkin pie, and pumpkin bread, but most of these are only for decoration and never eaten………
They go hand in hand, with Halloween and then Thanksgiving decorations around the home!😊
In the Pacific Northwest, these Pumpkin decorations will last till some small critter discovers this plentiful stash of food, and begins to eat their way through the Pumpkin!🙄
When Silvertop’s family lived in the High Country of Colorado, Pumpkins didn’t usually survive past October……….
Most nights were below freezing after the end of September, and Pumpkins quickly turned to mush!😳
Plastic Pumpkins were the only outdoor decorations that survived till Halloween!🙄
Trick or treater’s wore thick ski coats and gloves under their costumes. Dad would pack up the kids in the car, and head to the suburbs in town, for the best candy ROI!😇
Back home all the candy was dumped out for Dad to inspect!
“Boys, it looks like you might have some “Suspicious” candy!”🤔
“Yep….. Reese’s peanut butter cups are definitely suspect, Dad will need to taste these……they might be poisonous Lol!”😇
This usually sent the kids running for Mom to intervene…….
I really don’t know why, Dad was just trying to protect his kids Lol!🤣
Now the kids are grown and Married, and we have a new “Shortage” in the Silvertop home……..
Trick-or-treaters……….
No one comes up into the foothills……….😮
“ Honey, maybe we need to pick up a bag or two of Reese’s peanut butter cups, you never know we might get trick-or-treaters this year Lol!”😇
