"For the sake of humanity. A person cannot live alone. We assist each other in times of crisis. Organ donation is another means through which one person can help an ill individual. This creates a connection between souls.

Organ donation involves the process of transplanting organs or tissues from one person's body to replace those of another typically after death. However, in some cases, parts like kidneys or liver can be donated by living individuals. Organ donation is a noble deed as it can save many lives.

Organ donation is generally categorized into two types:

1. After brain death or cardiac death, organs like kidneys, heart, liver, pancreas, and intestines can be donated for transplantation.
2. In a living state, a person can willingly donate a kidney or a part of their liver, potentially saving the recipient's life.

A friend from my university had lost both kidneys, and later, his mother donated one kidney, saving his life from the brink of death.

Organ donation not only saves lives but also has legal and ethical aspects. Organ donation is supported by Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, and all religions, as humanity has no religion. Both the donor and recipient undergo thorough medical examinations before completing the process.

There are steps involved in organ donation, some of which I have discussed below:

In many countries, including ours, there is a registry for organ donation where people can register their willingness. Medical examinations are conducted to ensure the health of both donors and recipients.

If the donated organ matches the recipient, it is transplanted through surgical means. Post-transplant, health checks are done for both parties.

Organ donation has advanced modern medicine, but it is essential to deeply consider the social issues associated with it. In our current society, organ donation could potentially become a business, which should never be acceptable. We often see in movies where organs are sold at higher prices. If organ donation becomes commercialized, those in poorer economic conditions may no longer have access to necessary medical treatments. Therefore, ethical and policy guidelines are essential to ensure safety and trust in society.
