Diwali, also known as Deepawali is the longest holiday in India. It is a 5-day festival of lights celebrated by Hindus, Jain, Sikhs, and some Buddhists worldwide. Diwali falls on the darkest night of the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-octobar and mid-November) and its exact date varies each year

Diwali is celebrated for a variety of reasons.
the return of lord Rama to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana in the epic Ramayana.
the victory of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
the worship of Lakshmi, The Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity.
The beginning of the Hindu New Year.

Diwali is a time for family and friends to come to gather and celebrate. people clean their home office and decorate with light flowers and also used diya in the decoration and also exchange gift with each other. In many homes family himself make sweet dishes, savior and snacks. on the main day of Diwali, people worship Lakshmi and Ganesh the Hindu god of wisdom and prosperity.

Diwali is a public holiday in India and government offices, schools, and businesses are also closed. the holiday lasts for five days but in part of India, it also lasts for ten days.

Here is a day-to-day overview of the Diwali celebrations:

Dhantaras: the first day of Diwali is known as Dhantaras, which mean "Wealth day" On this day people purchase gold, silver, and other valuable in the hope of attracting good luck and prosperity.
Choti Diwali: The second day of Diwali is also called choti Diwali "Small Diwali" On this day people clean their houses and decorate them with light and diyas. They also perform Naraka Chaturdashi puja, a ritual to ward off evil spirits.
Diwali: The third day of Diwali is the main festival in which people used to light up their houses and workplaces by means of diya and candles and also do puja for goddess Ganesh and Lakshmi. people also used fire crack to end the night and also used to play games at night.

Goverdhan Puja: On the fourth day of Diwali people used to do the puja of Gordhan, a hill that lord Krishna is said to lift on his little finger to protect the people of Vrindavan from Daluga.
Bhai dooj: The fifth day of Diwali is known as bhai dooj. On this day sister applies tilak (rad mark ) on the forehead of the brother and prays for his well-being. In return, the brother gives a gift to the sister.

Diwali is a joyous and festive time in India. It's a time for people to come together, celebrate their faith, and give thanks for their blessing.
