All you need to know about a curator in the steemit platform.

Just like in my previous post which I made 2 days ago where I wrote about all you need to know about a moderator on the steemit platform, I told you all, that a series of questions most especially by users were asked which lead me to make that publication and clearing off the air, the same thing goes out for today.

I have been questioned over and over again about who a curator is by different users both new and old. Some people think that only those who have applied for the community curator and are chosen are those we call curators. Well, this is true depending on the context you are viewing it from.

I guess some users do not know that every steemian on the steemit platform is a curator in his or her little ways. Now I have said this because most people don't know the true definition of the word curator and that is the reason I will be explaining it more clearly today.

A curator on the steemit platform is any steemian who read through the content and then upvotes or downvotes the content depending on the value the content adds to him or her. Every curator is supposed to do any of the two when the content pleases him/her and meets the required standards I.e it is plagiarism free, it is steemexclusive, and doesn't use any form of abuse.

On the other hand, to maintain the standard of the platform, if any of the aforementioned things are found in the content of a user, then the content should be downvoted by you after such discovery.

So based on that, you will agree with me that anyone on the platform can be or better still is a curator. The primary duties of every curator are to check and ensure that the post you are about to upvote or downvote meets or violates the rules of curation respectively.

It is important to note here that curation as viewed by many is just voting which although is the central part of curation but has more to it. You can know if a steemian is performing his or her curation by checking the users voting CSI in steemworld.org. Everyone who votes on other people's publications gets a higher voting CSI and those who don't vote to see their CSI at 0.

Community curators on the other hand are steemians selected by the steemit team to work based on the resources provided to ensure they check users' posts based on a few criteria such as plagiarism-free, club status, use of a bot, steem exclusive, etc. And if such content is found free a certain % upvote is given to the publication.

We know how difficult it is to own 500k SP to become a whale on the steemit platform which is why the team selects some users and saddles them with a responsibility to support others via the SCs account. This selection and appointment are done every month so that every user qualified can have the experience of working with a bigger account as such.

Those selected to do this every week and then report on the post voted and the number of users that received votes for the past weeks. Steemians are increasing daily and a way to keep them going is by supporting them that is the reason why the team has created all these accounts for support.
