Difficulties faced by Newcomers || Suggestion to reduce Newcomers Dropout

New commers are the gift to every website and application. New commers should be treated well and we need to give them all their needs in advance. You will know about the word "First Impression is the best Impression". If the newcomers will like the platform and he/she gets all help in advance then he/she will understand the usefulness of the platform and will definitely work for the future.

When installing a new app or login to a new website. There should be tutorials to learn about the app or website interface. This will surely improve the user friendly experience. Every application and website having tutorials to learn more about each features. But in Steemit there is no tutorials to learn about it.

When a new person (not familiar with Steemit) sign up in Steemit he/she should not able to know the basics of Steemit. There are lot of questions raise in user mind like what is the number 25 behind my name, voting power, percentage, healing time, CSI, clubs , steemexclusive, etc,.

It may surely takes upto 1 month (based on interest) to learn the basics of Steemit. They are having trouble in learning the basic features of Steemit.
He/She having only two options to learn.

1. Reading pinned Post in various communities (Reader cannot get answers for different doubt and on spot doubts)
2. Asking doubts with CRs, Admins and Mods through comments and texting with Discord

• Comments are not personal. So most of them avoid it.
• Discord is new to most of them and also it is likely different from normal texting apps like WhatsApp, Telegram. It may take one or two days to be familiar with it.
• Even though all the CRs, Admins and Mods are friendly and clearing most of our doubts. They are not having so much time to explain as they sometimes have personal work. We get reply after some hours or even after some days. I can't blame everyone. It's natural, they are also humans and having lots of personal works to do.

You can tell, there are lot of achievement tasks available in New commers community in which they can learn more. But from achievement task we can only learn half of basics. Even after completing achievement task there are lot of doubt raising in user mind and some may not solved.

So these difficulties in learning the basics may create bad impression among the new commers and it may be also a reason for dropout.

In my point of view the solution should be adding a tutorial to new user from that they can learn the basics easily without having help from others. There are lot of things to learn from Steemit and we cannot add all of these in a single post. So that the tutorial can be day by day or after every 5 level up in reputation score.

I am talking the reality. Everyone joining Steemit referred by his/her friend or known from YouTube will be attracted to join here only by hearing earn from Steemit. Their first thought is to earn money. You may tell that all the people are not money minded. But a new person (not investors or experienced) joining here, having thought only to Earn. After some days knowing about the benefits of voting power in steemit, cryptocurrency, holding and staking some of the users may change their mind and work for the future with #club100.
My another suggestion to avoid discontinue of new users

• Verification of Achievement 1 should be very fast (within 1 or in rare case 2 days)

Because, some of the Newbies know about Achievements task in Newcomers community and some of them not aware of this.

• If the new person know about the Achievements task then that achievement post is the first post for him. He will be waiting eagerly for the verification and support from curators. In the early period he/she having lots of interest and curiosity by visiting his/her post frequently to check verification status. If it is delayed he/she gets disappointed and it create bad impression among the Newcomers of Steemit.
• If a new person not aware of achievement task he/she may randomly choose some community and post with a single line or single photo or easily copy paste from internet. For this activity he/she didn't get support and someone has to guide him to complete achievement 1. After many struggle (user understanding the rules of Steemit) posting achievement task and waiting for verification. If user having delay in verification he/she reduce the time spending to Steemit. So we need to eliminate the delay in verification of Achievement tasks.

These changes will create good impression among the Newcomers and create a bond between users and Steemit.
