Hello friends,

It is with a heart filled with joy that I humbly appear before you all today, and I am sure that you are happy to see me.

I sat back and looked at the progress I have made on steemit, I made a long review of how I started on the 15th of April 2021 up till date.

Although I have not attained the height that I intend for myself but I am glad I didn't join my peers that powered down and left the platform.

In our discussion today, we will be discussing about powerdown and why we might be tempted to engage in one.

WHAT IS POWERDOWN

Powerdown is an act on steemit whereby a steemian initiate a protocol where all his locked steems in form of steem power is released and converted back to liquid steems.

It is a process whereby an individual turns his steem to a way in which it can be easily transferred out of his steemit wallet.

Powerdown is an act that I frowned at on steemit because it makes it look like you are trying to make a fool of others that are still engaging in power up.

For you to be supported on steemit, you also need to support others but how can you support others if you don't have enough steem power to influence the post of others just because u decided to power down.

Powerdown is contagious in the sense that when an individual powerdown, others will be tempted to do the same.

Please follow along as we discuss some reasons why some individuals happen to powerdown

REASONS INDIVIDUAL ARE TEMPTED TO POWER DOWN

There is no legitimate reason as to why people powerdown and leave steemit, through my research through questioning, I have come to realize that people powerdown due to some misconceptions they have about steemit and the team, some of the misconceptions are:

  • STEEMIT WILL CRASH:

Having been involved in several Ponzi schemes, many have this mentality that steemit will crash one-day and the team will run with our money.

Personally, I have had to convince lots of people, most especially newbies that steemit is not a Ponzi scheme that can crash.

It is a social media platform built using a blockchain technology.

The worst experience I had was when steemit was going through system upgrade and at such moment we couldn't access the platform, many panicked and eventually powered down.

And this answer to this misconceptions is that steemit is not a ponzi scheme and it cannot be crashed by one person.

Steemit is here to stay and it has been in existence for over 5years.

  • CENTRALIZED VOTES:

Another misconception about steemit that actually made the lazy ones to leave is that steemit is a centralized platform.

This is not true, steemit Is a decentralized platform where you decide to do whatever you wish to do.

Concerning the votes, it is seen that the team try their very best to ensure that votes gets to all individuals, including newcomers.

We are also open to investors that are in the platform and are doing as they please, this can only be possible because of the decentralized state of steemit.

  • LITTLE PAY:

Another misconception steemians have about steemit is that the pay is not worth the work we put in, and this is not true.

Many see it this way because we are dependent on the steemit team for votes and the steemit team are limited by their voting mana on the number/weight of votes they give.

When we have enough investor like hungry-griffin, and when the cryptomarket is stable again, we will all be happy that we didn't leave steemit.

The pay from steemit is actually very okay for the work we are putting in.

CONCLUSION

This is the first part of our discussion on powerdown.

Today, we have seen what powerdown means and some misconceptions that leads some to power down.

In our next discussion, we shall discuss on the effects of powerdown on steemit and we would see why the team always encourage us to power up our liquid steems.

I eagerly look forward to discussing with you all again, thanks for going through my post.

Good info i get from your article and I agree that steemit is not a Ponzi scheme it has potential to survive every condition but I think there need some more investors like hungry griffin who can help to grow newcomers.
