GREETINGS FRIENDS!

I'm glad to be here, and today I want to discuss a very important topic with us; how to build a successful Community. Communities are integral parts of this prestigious platform, and they are essential for growth, no wonder the quote "Every successful person knows that his/her achievement depends on a community of persons working together 💪" ~ Paul Ryan.

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY?

A community may be defined as a group of people sharing a common understanding, of the same manners, language, or traditions. This group of persons can be interacting Either one on one or by electronic means for social, professional, educational, or other purposes; a Virtual community as in the case of Steemit communities.

There are numerous communities in Steemit; Old and New, Active and Inactive, one with more subscribers and active members, more subscribers and few active members, some with few subscribers and active members, etc, some have been in existence for so long, and some are thriving while others are dying. This brings about the question of what makes a successful Community.

Note The greatness of a community is perfectly measured by the thoughtful actions of its members.

The quality of a community can be measured by the degree of engagement and happiness users can derive from community interactions. Sad to say many communities lack this quality. Yet, some are just so good at this, the reason they are successful.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL COMMUNITY:

(1) A Community should fill a particular need (s) it should allow its members to feel more connected with other people and Environment, and most importantly, it should have a support system for its members when they require help and encouragement.

(2) A Community Should Have A Purpose and there should be a shared identity, a common sense of identity should exist in a community, with users with the same goals and objectives, it's pertinent for a community to state its objectives so that users of common interest can join. Having concrete goals will unite the members and bring positive outcomes.

(3) Sticking To The Purpose Of The Community: Communities are formed based on the same interest or hobbies, for example, one can form a sporting community with people who love sports, don't deviate from the main purpose of the community

(4) For example, do not start posting religious activities or motivational quotes competitions there, it will only kill the interest of the members, same goes with art, culture, games, and cooking communities.

QUALITIES OF POSITIVE AND SUCCESSFUL COMMUNITIES:

Common Goals:

Effective Communities have and shared similar beliefs and values. This motivates to accomplish mutually held goals, for example, if a community values charity, its members who have the same goals will support it. If it values environmental goals, it will promote recycling, tree planting, etc. Another community might place value on quality education, this one will try to influence education policy.

Freedom Of Expression:

They should be quality engagement among Members, they should comfort and encourage one Another. Members should be free to express what is important to them and also be free to speak their minds.

A successful Community recognizes the importance of opinion, this can be done by asking members to express their opinion of the community and they feel there think the community should improve. This will enhance members' fulfillment from their involvement.

Address Member's Concern With Sensitivity

Successful Communities prioritize their member's well-being and address concerns in a sensitive and timely manner when they arise.

Community leaders need to take time to listen carefully to any concern that arises and take necessary steps to solve the problem.

Community leaders need to act fairly:

By keeping clear records and maintaining good communication with all members of the community. Get to know your members, interact with them, and commend and show them kindness, your members will feel appreciated and happy, and you know a happy member is a happy community.

Members' identities should be protected from being harmed by Scammers and plagiarists. This can be done through regular looking out for such and mute if caught.

Set Clear Policies and Obligations:

Clear policies rules and expectations should be set from the beginning to guide the conduct of the members of a community a code of conduct should be established.

Have A Unique Projects you want to execute.

Promote Interaction Among Members:

Successful communities to Foster a feeling of genuine connection among members by providing enough interaction opportunities this will inspire and motivate members.

CONCLUSIONS:

A well-functioning community will promote an extraordinary commitment in dedication from their member because it is founded on a compelling and inspiring vision that members identified with positive communities get their members excited about interacting with one another and contributing. Thanks for reading, I hope this will be helpful to community Leaders!

I consider this an interesting article and i feel it should be spotlighted.

I have a very strong interest when it comes to communities , but most times what seems to shift my interests is the fact that many communities have a second agenda which is either to make the money and power down later and leave the users stranded, unfortunately.

However, your few expressions of what a community should look like are even more interesting.

Unfortunately, most communities doesnt stick to why they were created..!

You can't be running a sport community and be creating garden content in such, or you are running an art community but then you keep posting health contents...., that doesnt make any sense....otherwise, there should be one community where everything is posted...🤷‍♂️.

And if we have 50 communities accepting the same content whereas that wasn't thier initial intention...., what does that mean...?

Great thoughts!!

And if we have 50 communities accepting the same content whereas that wasn't thier initial intention...., what does that mean...?

This has been my thought too, so many communities doesn't have purpose and directions, and as you rightly said some persons have ulterior motives of opening a community, and if they don't realize it, they will look for means to get what they wanted, maybe these could be the reason.

or what do you think?
