What Did You Finally Claim? (Post payout into steemitwallet)steemCreated with Sketch.

Greeting Steemit Friends, how are we doing at our different angles? Today I decided to discuss something which I’m sure most of the newbies will be questioning their payout. Let's talk about the amount you see on your post and what you finally get at payout. It is a simple analogy we will discuss together, hoping I’m on track too about what is happening.

We are all aware of the post-payout ratio of 50:50 for every post created on the steemit platform. Practically we have Payout Author (50.00%), Payout Curators (49.8%), and Payout Returned (a small percentage that depends on the number of curators). So that is how we finally get what we get into our steemitwallet.

Payout Author (50.00%)
Payout Curators (~49.8%)
Payout Returned (~0.02%)

The above analogy goes for all authors, no matter the payout setting. You might only get some slide differences in payout returned and cases where you have set a beneficiary to your payout. Well, our concern here is different on the steemit platform and what we claimed on steemitwallet.

Let's look at the payout of a post with a value of ~25 USD on steemit, which indicates a ~129.28 SP purchase. Following the 50:50 % ratio, the author will be expecting to claim 64.64 SP for a 100% post-payout setting. For the case of a 50/50 post-payout setting, the total amount will not be different given that the 64.64 STEEM will be divided into 32.32 SP and 32.32 STEEM claims. It is what you see on steemit and what you are expecting to claim to your steemitwallet. It is okay to see it this way, and nothing to fear.

The same post on steemworld will give a different projection, which is the reason for this post. We can see that the same post with a value of ~25 USD on steemit is indicating ~19 USD to be the payout. Note that the value in USD has changed, and the amount of Steem is to be the payout.

To look into this situation, I decided to look at the market information on steemworld. I know many will have been asking the question of why it is different. As I mentioned in one of my posts Steemit is NOT STEEM. It is just one of the things to bear in mind that are two different bodies.

STEEM has an Internal STEEM Price and an External STEEM Price. For this reason, our post on steemit is valued on the external marker, and payout to the steemitwallet is valued on the internal median prices.

Small illustration

Steemworld is the preferable platform to look at the value of your post payout and possibly what you will claim. For now, I wait for a better explanation of the calculation done on the steemit platform. I will show an illustration of what I understand on the steemworld web platform and what we finally claimed to steemitwallet.

The same post whose value on steemit is ~25 USD shows 19 USD on steemworld. Using the internal STEEM price, I will calculate the amount of Steem that will have to be claimed on payout.

First, the 19.209$ is divided into 2, which goes in line with the 50/50 post-payout ratio.

19.209$/2 = 9.6045

So this will mean 9.6045$ Author and the other half for the Curators. It is perfectly simple to understand, so our question is about the amount of Steem I will have to claim. As I mentioned above, the is and internal prices and external prices. Every post payout claimed on steemitwallet is valued at the internal price.

9.6045/0.25208 = ~38.101 STEEM

The amount of Steem claimed on payout will be 9.6045/0.25208 = ~38.101 STEEM. 38.101 STEEM is the actual amount of STEEM to be claimed, and not what you will see on the steemit platform.

I think the calculation on the steemit platform is using the external STEEM price, while the actual steem claim to our steemitwallet is using the Internal median Price.

Note that the external STEEM price is affected by the general crypto market and is different from the internal median prices. So, avoid any confusion on your post payout, make use of the steemworld platform for most of your activity on the steemit platform.

This is my opinion and not that of any of the management team of either Steemit or STEEM.

The weight is reduced because of the lack of Voting Power. If you vote for me as a witness, you can get my little vote.

I have got the whole idea of payout details from this post, Thanks a lot for posting this.

Many have been seeing the difference and having the impression that the system was faulty. LOL. Our STEEM payout from the steemit platform has always used the internal media price. The difference is so significant now because of the fall in the external steem price which is influenced by the general crypto market.

As I said, it is my understanding of how I think and not that of either the Steemit or the STEEM team.

According to me every community should increase their voting support.Currently the value of Steem Coin is very low.The number of users is decreasing day by day.It would have been better if all the curators got the amount shown in the pay-out.
