STEEM FOOD CONTEST: PORRIDGE COCOYAM
Today I made porridege cocoyam ( called "nang tare" in my vanicular). This is a traditional meal for the meta people from momo division in the North West region of Cameroon. This dish is prepared for special occasions like marriages, dead celebrations, born houses and other traditional feast. When this dish is offered to someone is it regarded as a sign of respect and that you value the person.
INGREDIENTS: cocoyam, meat, smoked or dry fish, bitter leaf, red oil, Maggi, salt and pepper.

Peel cocoyam and wash
Par boil bitter and wash a little
Put the cocoyam in a clean pot, wash and add meat and place on the fire. Allow it to book for 5 minutes then you add your bitter leaf, dry or smoked fish and Maggi. Add salt, pepper, and Maggi to taste then allow to boil for 20-30 minutes. Remove from the first and serve.
The final meal
Traditional this dish is eaten in wooden bowls and accompanied with palm wine. Bon appetit!!
