Today is a great holiday for Orthodox believers, "Good Friday", when Easter eggs are painted. This tradition has lasted for centuries and has not disappeared in our nation, it is even a very popular tradition.

Eggs are painted on the day when Jesus Christ died innocently on Golgotha ​​and Jerusalem, crucified on the cross. The first egg to be painted must be red (as a sign of Christ's innocent blood) and that egg is called the "guardian". It is believed that this egg brings health, happiness, harmony in the house and is stored until next year. An egg from the previous year is thrown into the river, so that the river is believed to take away all the evils from last year.

On this day, one fasts, some eat only fasting foods and some eat only bread and drink water, while there are people who do not eat anything and do not drink water all day.

Children usually adore this day because they paint eggs by hand and draw on them. Children go and pick leaves and various grasses to decorate their Easter eggs.

While most Easter eggs are painted by the housewife. It is customary for the housewife to cross herself, pray to God and start painting. Eggs are usually painted in a lot of cheerful colors, red, blue, green, yellow, orange.

Some paint with artificial colors and some paint with natural colors. While there is also someone who paints with both artificial and natural colors.

Symbolism:
The painting of eggs is done in memory of the event when St. Mary Magdalene the Myrrh-bearer (that is the girl who was with Christ the Most Holy Mother of God during his Golgotha ​​suffering, and to whom Christ first appeared after the resurrection), traveled to Rome to preached the Gospel, and visited the emperor Tiberius. Then, as a sign of attention, as a New Year's gift, she handed him a red egg, and greeted him with the words: "Christ is Risen". The red color symbolizes the Savior's innocent blood shed on Golgotha, but the red color is also the color of the resurrection. Because there is no resurrection without suffering and death. It is, therefore, primarily the color of Christians and the church, regardless of the fact that some individuals and movements throughout history have tried to appropriate and compromise this color.

Prepare the eggs that you will paint, put them to boil, when the eggs are cooked, take a little vinegar and egg paint in the sherpa, when that water boils, put the eggs and keep them in that water until the eggs receive the color you want.

In case you want to paint eggs in a natural way, one of the most famous ways is to paint eggs in onion shells, the so-called "onion", fry onion shells and pour water, put fresh eggs and cook for half an hour. , when the cooking is over, take out the eggs and you will have a golden brown color of Easter eggs.

If you want to decorate a beautiful egg, you can do it by sticking the leaves of various plants on the eggs before painting, when you paint, you take off the leaves and have the imprint of that leaf on the egg. shiny and beautiful in appearance.

Eggs are left for the Easter holiday, which is immediately on Sunday, then people knock on each other's eggs and eat those same eggs, and rejoice because that day is dedicated to the Savior Christ who was resurrected (he was dead and came to life), and thus people know that Easter awaits them too when they die one day.
