HOW TO PREPARE VEGETABLE SOUP. ENTRY BY @ngozi996 For @steemfoods
Today I'm going to show you how to prepare native vegetable soup.
Here are the ingredients
Salt and maggi seasoning
Red oil
Waterleaf, Freshly cut and washed
Ground crayfish and pepper with chopped onions by the side
Ugu or pumpkin leaf. freshly cut and washed.
I start by placing my pot on the gas burner which is lit, I then add palm oil,( add oil depending on the quantity of the food you're cooking) then I allow it to simmer a little.
oil on fire.
Then I add my onions and crayfish which has been blended with pepper already and allow it cook for 1minute
I just added crayfish blended with pepper to the simmering oil
Onions was just added here
After it has cooked for 1minute I add my water leaf. Now some times we can start the food with water leaf ( I mean once you put your pot on fire, you can put in water leaf first before anything else and allow it cook) but this time,I choose to do it this way then i stir to mix the water leaf and other ingredients I've already added.
Just added waterleaf here
Waterleaf stirred and cooking.
I allow the water leaf cook for 10minutes so it can get soft and all then I add my salt and maggi seasoning. This is the point where I add my meat stock, or whatever protein I choose to use, but for this post I'm using just crayfish(well lots of it) This is delicious water leaf soup on a budget...Smiles.
So as you can see, the water leaf had cooked for 10minutes,and is soft,
water leaf cooking again
then I add Ugh( pumpkin leaf). This is the final stage of this food because the ugu isn't meant to be on fire for long, 5 minutes is ok for it, so I need to have added everyother things first.
