Steemfoods Best Recipe During Lenten Season: Binignit de Cebu

Most of us has our favorite food to crave. Today I want to share to all Steemians the best @steemfoods during Lenten season or holy week. In the Philippines most people are decided to cooked this best recipe in the celebration of lent. They prefer not to eat meat this holy week specially during Good Friday because Friday is the day of Penitence as our belief that Christ died on this day.

So let me show how we cook this best recipe during lent. Let me summarize the ingredients needed in our recipe today.

  • 1 kg Eddo/gabi , cubed cut

  • 1 kg Banana Saba , cubed cut

  • 1 kg Sweet Potato , cubed cut

  • 1/4 kg palm tree flour / landang

  • 6 pack of sago pearls

  • 1 kg of brown sugar

  • 5 pcs coconut grated for coconut milk

  • water

Cooking instructions

  • Combine coconut milk and water in a cooking pot . Let it boil for 10 - 15 minutes

  • Stir the mixture. Then add the Gabi, sweet potato, Saba banana ripe and palm tree flour or landang.
  • Cover the cooking Pot and continue to cook in a medium heat for about 10 - 15 minutes

  • Add the brown sugar and sago pearls. Stir until the sugar dilutes completely Let is boil for about 5 minutes.

  • Transfer in a serving bowl and ready to serve. Enjoy eating

Binignit is a visayan dessert soup in the Visayas and Central Philippines. You can prepare this easily and quickly. It is easy to make and simple dish that everybody would love specially this season of lent.
I enjoy eating Benignit because it has exact amount of sweetness and I can easily distinguished the flavor of all ingredients used. It is best to serve during meryenda or snacks or even breakfast.

It has the same beliefs or Christian customs as we do here in Venezuela, I already order my fish in the frezzer for Good Friday tomorrow, thank you for sharing that recipe for those of us who share the same customs only that here your ingredients are difficult to find, greetings, thanks for share your recipes with us.
