Hi steamian today I will be telling us how I prepared my afang soup for valentines. Love is a beautiful thing so each and everyone deserved to be loved, I cooked this delicacy for my lodge mate for the sake of love.
Afang is a native leaf used in preparing soup, So I got my afang leaf from the market without being slice cause I wanted to prepare everything myself the way I was thought by my mother
So I slice the leaf into tiny piece for an easy grinding then I poured it into the mortar and I used pistol to pound it into pieces cause if it is not well grinded it will make the soup watering.
I got water leaf also wash it and then slice it into pieces so that it will help thicken the soup when mixing it with the afang.
So I got periwinkle( known as isam in igbo language), then I cut the tail off so that the periwinkle will come out from the shell when sucking it, actually the periwinkle help to boost the blood cell.
After everything I prepared my ingredients
and steam it with a little water and poured my waterleaf together with the meat after steaming it to its softness I added red oil together to make the soup look attractive in the eyes then I left it for about 5-7 minutes to steam it very well, Yeah soup is ready.
After bringing the soup down I measure some water into my kettle and I boiled the water for 5-6 minutes when it got boiled I measure my garri into my bowl and added my hot water inside turned it very well till it cake together
To be honest with you guys my day was very fun cause alot of people were there to help me out and my Western friends were surprise to see such food and they were asking me many question on how to prepare it.
