Today I'm going to give you a tour of one of my favorite stores to buy meat. This is the butcher's store that is located inside one of the biggest supermarkets in the area, the Luxor supermarket. One of the reasons that this place is one of my favorite places to buy meat, is because of the cleanliness and safety standards due to covid 19. From the moment you enter the place, they put anti-bacterial gel on your hands, give you gloves and make sure you are using the mask correctly. Another reason is because of the prices and quality of the meat I can get. In spanish, butcher shop is written carniceria.

The butcher's shop is quite large, it has a self-service section where you can take the products from the shelves or go to the sellers and ask for your order.

In this butcher's shop you can find different types of meat. I usually go once every 15 days and buy enough for that period of time to avoid going out to take care of myself during this period of the pandemic. In this butcher shop you can find pork or beef chops, lean ground meat, whole chickens, chicken milanese, chicken breast, beef or pork belly and legs, grilled meat, chorizo, beef or chicken liver, among other things.

Prices vary according to the type of meat you are buying. Red meat is usually similarly priced regardless of the type of cuts you are buying. By converting the local currency prices to dollars, the prices would remain approximately the same:

They also have a fish section, although I confess that I usually buy the fish in popular markets where the fishermen bring in the fresh fish. I don't usually buy frozen fish, but it's good to have this option for several of the recipes we make.

I usually go to this butcher's to buy the frozen chicken, I find it cheaper than in other stores in the city and I love to buy the ground meat without fat. It usually happens that in other stores they sell you ground meat with a lot of fat and you end up with a low quality product and an unpleasant taste. I love ground beef because of the amount of stuff I can make with it and when I want quality ground beef, I go to the Luxor Supermarket butcher store to buy it.
