Merry Christmas Everyone,

May our Christmas be full of joy and abundance with love. And may the coming New year be full of contentment. Today I will share with you my Special recipe this Christmas. My favorite Braised Pork with Caramelized Apple and Fried Whole Chicken.

Braised Pork with Apple


One of my favorite dishes is braised pork a popular dish in China. This is similar to Humba in the Philippines. I am going to make different variations by adding apples.

Ingredients:

1kilo Pork Belly (¥1000 =18.85 STEEM)
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Wine
1/2 cup Soy Sauce
1 cup Water
3 Bay Leaves
2 tablespoon Cooking Oil
1 teaspoon Peppercorn
1/2 cup of slice scallions
Ginger
Garlic
Caramelized apples
Boiled eggs

Procedure:

  • Slice the pork belly 3/4 inch and blanch the pork for 10 minutes. Rinse and set aside.

  • Over low heat, add the cooking oil and sugar in a pot.

  • Melt the sugar and add the pork, scallions, ginger, and garlic. Raise the heat to medium and cook the pork until lightly browned.

  • Add the wine, soy sauce, water, peppercorn, and bay leaves and turn the heat to low. Simmer for 45 minutes. Stir occasionally.

  • Add the eggs and simmer for another 10 minutes and done and serve with caramelized apples.

Whole Fried Chicken


In Japan fried chicken, is special at Christmas so I have made also it with a quick and easy version.

Ingredients:

1 whole Chicken (¥500 = 9.42 STEEM)
2 eggs
2 tablespoon of Pepper powder
1 liter Cooking Oil
1/4 cup of all purpose flour

Procedures:

  • Wash the chicken and dry. Rub with pepper powder and leave for 30 minutes.

  • In a bowl mix the chicken with eggs and flour.

  • In a deep pot heat a cooking oil and fried the chicken in a low heat.

  • Repeat the cooking with high heat and done.

I spent approximately ¥3000 (56.54 STEEM) on my dishes on this special occasion. I shared it with my roommates. We ate together and we enjoyed the recipe.


It's sad to say that my family, friends, and fellow Filipinos are suffering from the devastation of the typhoon. Still, I cook and share my recipe to enlighten and encourage them to have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
