How To Prepare Sauteed "TOGUE" with CHAYOTE - Quick and Easy
Hello Steemfoods!
How have you been?
I'm gonna share with you today another recipe for a vegetable dish that I prepared yesterday for our lunch at school. It's a regular dish served in Filipino households. We called it "Togue" here in the
Philippines.
"Togue", sometimes spelled as Taugi are Mung Bean sprouts. It's best for anyone who's counting calories as sprouts are calorie-free. There are actually many ways of cooking Mung Bean sprouts, and sauteing them is the most common.
INGREDIENTS
QUANTITY | ITEM |
---|---|
3/4 kg. | Togue |
1/4 kg. | Chayote |
1/4 kg. | Pork |
5 cloves | Garlic |
1 head (medium-sized) | Onion |
30 ml | Soy Sauce |
Pinch | Salt and Pepper |
30 ml | Cooking Oil |
PREPARATION
1. Wash all the ingredients that need to be washed. Slice the Chayote into long rectangular cuts, may it be julienne or batonnet; mince the garlic; slice the onion lengthwise; cut the pork into bite-sized chunks.
2. Preheat the pan. Saute the onion and garlic in oil. When the onion has softened, add and brown the tiny chunks of pork in the sauteed onion and garlic.
3. Add the Chayote to the cooking pot. Stir. 3 minutes is enough to initially cook this.
4. Add the Togue. Stir, and saute for about 3 minutes.
5. Season the dish with soy sauce, salt and pepper. Stir.
It's done! Serve and Enjoy!
