Hello, food lovers! Today, I will be sharing another vegetable recipe that we usually cook for lunch or dinner. My kids love this recipe because it's has a light taste. I know people from the philippines are familiar with it - Hello po sa inyong lahat! 🖐

This vegetable is also sometimes added as an ingredients to some other filipino dishes like Tinolang Manok, but today I will be sharing a dish in which it is the main ingredient. So, we begin...

Ginisang Sayote Recipe

It's a simple dish but it's nutritious. I know you might be thinking that it might not taste good since it looks a chunk full of vegetables, but we have a saying that; do not judge a book by it's cover. It's best to have a taste test before you say that it does not suit your taste. ^^

First, the ingredients:

• 1 Onion
• 2 Sayote
• 3 cloves Garlic
• 2/4 Chicken Breast
• 2 tbsp. Fish Sauce
• Oil

Cooking Process:

Step 1. Start with preparing the kitchen tools we are about to use for the cooking. This can be cooked in a frying pan and I'll be using it since I am used to cooking it this way.

Step 2. Let's prepare the ingredients mentioned above.

Step 3. Chop the onions and mince the garlic.

Step 4. Remove the bones on the chicken and proceed in slicing it to small pieces. I always choose breast part of the chicken because of it's texture, plus, you can chop it down to small pieces.

Step 5. After that, we need to peel the skin of Sayote, our main ingredient. Then after peeling, chop it into pieces like the one in the picture below.

And there, we're done preparing the ingredients. Let's proceed to cooking.

Step 6. Like always, pre-heat the pan first before pouring in oil and the let the oil heat some more. And when it's ready, add the garlic.

Step 7. Add the onions then steer.

Step 8. Pour in the fish sauce. I do this because I think it will prepare the mixture to savor the flavors. Plus, it gives off a good scent.

Step 9. Time to add the chicken breast then steer.

When the chicken turns like this, it's time to proceed to the next step. Although, you can cook it some more if you wish to.

Step 10. Add the sliced Sayote and then mix well so that it will be even and the flavors can be absorbed well.

Step 11. The next step is to add water. I'll be adding water so we can let it boil for some minutes. We eed to do that so the vegetables can soften up a bit.

Once, the vegetable softens up or become tender to your liking, it is ready to be served.

That's all there is to it! And from what I know, others add some tomatoes and many other things. But this is how I cook mine and it's perfectly okay. I guess that's their own rendition of it. Oh, you can add some pepper and salt if you want and if you think it tastes a bit bland to you. That's okay since it will add a good flavor as well.

Thank you for stopping by. See you to another mouthful recipe. You can ask me anything if you have something in mind. Thanks! Salamat po! 🥰
