04/April/2021 || South Indian Dish Idli & Onion🧅 , Tomato🍅 Chutney (Sauce)

Hello Steemers , How are you , I hope you all are doing Great and You all are safe and healthy during this COVID-19 situation . So first I want to introduce my self , My name is Chirag Bitoni and this is my first post in @steemfoods community .

I would like to thank @steemfoods community for providing us such platform , where creators like us can share our recipes
and also gain more information about different cuisine around the globe 🌏.

So today I cooked IDLI & Onion🧅, Tomato🍅 Chutney (Sauce) This is a South Indian dish that people like to have in breakfast , lunch and dinner all three times .Idli is one of the most easy and tasty dish eaten all over india .

So first of all let us see what are the ingredients required to make IDLI

Ingredients

Semolina (Suji )

Roasted Chana dal (Pulse)

Lets Begin With Our first and main dish Idli

Step 1 : Take a bowl and add Semolina, Roasted chana dal, black mustard seeds, dry curry leaves, roasted cashew nuts and salt, Stir it properly so that every ingredients get mix perfectly.

Step 2 : Now add Curd into the mix and stir it properly for 5-6 mins so that we get a thick mix . After Preparing the mix leave it for 5 mins so that it settle down and all the ingredients release their flavours.

Step 3 : After leaving the thick mix take a pressure cooker , fill 1/4 of the cooker with water and put it on the gas stove at medium flame .

Step 4 : Now its time to give shape to Our idlies . For this we have to take an idli stand having four to eight mould per disc , Now add Idli mix Using a Serving spoon in each mould properly so that it don't get overflow.

Step 5 : Now Put this idli stand on boiling water in pressure cooker and make sure the distance between water and idli stand is appreciatable , they don't touch each other because idli will not become fluffy if water enter in it .

Strp 6 : Now Cover the pressure cooker with a plate and wait for around 15 min until it get fluffy .

Step 7 : Now after 15 min remove the covering plate and check if its double the size of the mould or not . You can also check this by using a knife by stabbing it into every piece of idli .

Step 8 : Congratulations your idli is ready . Now its time to make Onion , tomato chutney (Sauce).

Ingredient

asafetida ( Hing )

Curry leaves

Ginger

Garlic

Green Chillies

Urad Dal (Pulse)

Dry Red Chillies

Cumin seeds Jeera

Black Mustard Seeds

Roughly Chopped Onion

Roughly Chopped Tomatos ( Double the quantity of Onion )

tamarind Paste ( Imli )

Steps of preparation

Step 1 : Take a pan add 2 table spoon of mustard oil , as fumes came out of mustard oil add asafetida and dry red chillies and cook it at low flame .

Step 2 : As soon as dry red chillies and asafetida cook , now add urad dal and mustard seeds at the same time and now let them cook until they turn brown .

Step 3 : As the Black mustard seeds and urad dal cooks , now add cumin seeds , ginger and garlic and soute them for approx. 1 min .

Step 4 : Now add 2 green chillies and handfull of curry leaves and saute the approx 1 min.

Step 5 : Now add Roughly Chopped Onions and saute them until they get little bit brown and soft .

Step 6 : Now add Roughly chopped Tomatos and saute them until then become to disintegrate upon gentle press .

Step 7 : Now add Salt and tamarind Paste ( Imli ) and saute them for 5 min .

Step 8 : Now transfer the Content of pan into mixer grinder jar and grind them to make a paste .

Now Idli and chutney is finally ready and here is the final look

What a delight my friend, combining lentil flours and here in Venezuela it is called cashew seed, which have many nutrients and omega, and are steamed. Your side sauce looks delicious and I congratulate you for your recipe @chiragbitoni
