What a joy to meet again to undertake this virtual journey around the world 🌎
The blue planet begins to turn and this time it stops in South America 🗺 where we will visit the WORLD'S HIGHEST CABLE CAR, located in the beautiful state of Merida, in my beloved country Venezuela.

Our adventure takes us to the heart of the Venezuelan Andes, to the picturesque state of Merida.

From the beginning it embraces us with its pleasant mountain climate and its landscapes full of mighty rivers, multicolored flowers and native plants, but without a doubt its main attraction is the imposing Sierra Nevada National Park 🏔❄🌨

And right there, the Mukumbarí or Teleferico de Merida stands huge and grand 🚡
The original route of this system was built in 1960, the year in which the entire system that had been under construction since 1952 was completed.

It was closed since 2008 for remodeling work, opening its doors to the public later in 2016.

I had the opportunity to visit it the same year of its reopening, and the truth is that it was an incredible experience that I hope to be able to repeat at some point.

In this post I share with you some of the photos I took on that wonderful trip.

Que alegría encontrarnos nuevamente para emprender este viaje virtual alrededor del mundo 🌎
El planeta azul comienza a girar y esta vez se detiene en Suramérica 🗺 donde visitaremos el TELEFÉRICO 🚡 MÁS ALTO DEL MUNDO, ubicado en el hermoso estado Mérida, en mi amado Pais Venezuela.

Nuestra aventura nos lleva al corazon de los Andes Venezolanos, al pintoresco estado Mérida.

Desde el principio nos abraza su agradable clima de montaña y sus paisajes llenos de caudalosos rios, flores multicolores y plantas autóctonas, pero sin duda su principal atractivo es el imponente Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada 🏔❄🌨

Y justo allí se erige enorme y grandioso el Mukumbarí o Teleférico de Merida 🚡
La ruta original de este sistema se construyó en 1960, año en el cual se terminó la totalidad del sistema que había estado en construcción desde 1952.

Estuvo cerrado desde al año 2008 por trabajos de remodelación, abriendo sus puertas al público posteriormente en el año 2016.

Tuve la oportunidad de visitarlo el mismo año de su reapertura, y la verdad es que fue una experiencia increíble que espero poder repetir en algún momento.

En este post comparto con ustedes algunas de las fotos que tomé en ese maravilloso viaje.

🔵Following our route, when we get on the Mukumbarí, 5 sections await us, totaling 12.5 km of route at an impressive height of 4,675 meters above sea level.

This accredits it as the highest cable car in the world and the third longest after the cable car in Norsjö, Sweden.

The MUKUMBARÍ is a high-tech cable car system that has two tracks (round trip).

Each of its cabins or funiculars has a capacity for more than 50 people. They are comfortable and very spacious, in them you can travel sitting or standing.

Its name, Mukumbarí, means "Place where the sun sets" 🌄 referring to the high mountains of the Sierra Nevada ❄ in which it seems that the sun sits on the beautiful Merida sunsets.

The first section of the system extends from the "Barinitas" station to the "La Montaña" station, from which you can see the mighty "Chama" river that seems to emerge from the heart of the mountain itself, as it crosses the canyon formed by these.

Each of the stations has modern facilities, with gift shops and small coffee where we stop to taste a delicious and steaming 🍫️ 🍫 hot chocolate accompanied by cakes, cookies, sandwiches without missing out on the famous traditional Andean sweets such as dulce de leche , marshmallows or preserves.

In addition, these stations have access to beautiful terraces, from which you can admire the wonderful landscape of Mérida and all the immensity of the Sierra Nevada.

🔴Siguiendo nuestro recorrido, al subirnos al Mukumbarí, nos esperan por delante 5 tramos que suman en total 12,5 km de recorrido a una impresionante altura de 4.675 metros por encima del nivel del mar.

Lo que lo acredita como el teleférico más alto del mundo y el tercero más largo luego del teleférico de Norsjö, Suecia.

El MUKUMBARÍ es un sistema de teleférico de alta tecnología que cuenta con dos vías (Ida y Vuelta).

Cada una de sus cabinas o funiculares tiene una capacidad para más de 50 personas. Son cómodas y muy espaciosas, en ellas se puede viajar sentado o de pie.

Su nombre, Mukumbarí, significa "Lugar donde se posa el sol" 🌄 haciendo referencia a las altas montañas del Sierra Nevada ❄ en las cuales pareciera que el sol se sienta en los hermosos atardeceres merideños.

El primer tramo del sistema se extiende desde la estación "Barinitas" hasta la estación "La Montaña", desde la cual se puede observar el caudaloso río " Chama" que pareciera emerger del propio corazón de la montaña, ya que atraviesa el cañon formado por estas.

Cada una de las estaciones cuenta con unas modernas instalaciones, con tiendas de regalos y pequeños café donde nos detenemos a degustar un delicioso y humeante ☕️ 🍫 chocolate caliente acompañado de tortas, galletas, sándwichs sin perdernos los famosos dulces tradicionales andinos como el dulce de leche, las mercochas o las conservas.

Además, estas estaciones tienen acceso a unas bellas terrazas, desde las que se puede admirar el maravilloso paisaje de Mérida y toda la imensidad de la Sierra Nevada.

🔵We climbed back into the cabin to reach section 2 and stop at "La Aguada" station.

At this point we have already climbed 3,452 meters. We must breathe slowly and not walk too fast so as not to be attacked by "Evil of the Paramo" which is a passing syndrome that people can suffer from, when they rise so many meters above sea level and that basically consists of difficulty breathing and dizziness, caused by high pressure from heights.

From the beautiful terrace of the "La Aguada" station, we have the opportunity to appreciate a beautiful spectacle. From here we can see the imposing "El Toro" peak and another beautiful National Park called "Sierra de la Culata".

It is impressive to see that intricate chain of mountains of wonderful shades of green and snowy peaks, crossed by the cable car track ascending majestically as if it were touching the sky.

🔴Nos subimos de nuevo a la cabina para llegar al tramo 2 y detenernos en la estación "La Aguada".

En este punto ya hemos ascendido 3.452 metros. Debemos respirar de manera pausada y no caminar muy rápido para no ser atacados por el " Mal de Páramo" que es un síndrome pasajero que pueden padecer las personas, al subir tantos metros sobre el nivel del mar y que básicamente consiste en dificultad para respirar y mareos, causados por las altas presiones de las alturas.

Desde la preciosa terraza de la estación " La Aguada" , tenemos la oportunidad de apreciar un hermoso espectáculo. Desde aquí divisamos el imponente pico "El Toro" y otro hermoso Parque Nacional llamado "Sierra de la Culata".

Es impresionante ver esa intrincada cadena de montañas de maravillosos tonos verde y picos nevados, atravesada por la vía del teleférico ascendiendo majestuoso como si fuera tocar el cielo.

🔵Arriving at 4,045 meters, we disembarked at the "Loma Redonda" station.

Through the thick mist, serene Venezuelans stand out.

The air is absolutely clean. You can see tiny hamlets, with adorable houses and small lagoons and springs that spring from the mountain.

The place is awash with incredible peace. From here we can perceive the unmistakable smell of "Frailejon" which is a small shrub with long leaves, covered with small and soft hairs, it is very aromatic and has great healing properties, especially in respiratory tract conditions.

The entire paramo is covered with this small plant, of which more than 80 species can be found here.

And so we stayed for a long time, enjoying the stillness of the moors, inhaling its pure air with the scent of Frailejon.

🔴Llegando ya a los 4.045 metros desembarcamos en la estación " Loma Redonda".

A través de la espesa neblina surgen los serenos paramos venezolanos.

El aire es absolutamente limpio. Se pueden observar diminutos caseríos, con casitas adorables y pequeñas lagunas y manantiales que brotan de la montaña.

El lugar esta inundado de una increíble paz. Desde aqui podemos percibir el olor inconfundible del "Frailejon" que es un pequeño arbusto de largas hojas, cubiertas de pequeños y suaves pelillos, es muy aromática y posee grandes propiedades curativas sobre todo en las afecciones de las vías respiratorias.

Todo el páramo esta cubierto de esta pequeña planta, de las cuales se pueden encontrar aquí más de 80 es especies.

Y así nos quedamos un buen rato, disfrutando de la quietud de los pàramos, inhalando su aire puro con olor a Frailejon.

🔵Back again in the cabin we begin to see our arrival point at the station "Pico Espejo" at the top of the mountain of the same name at 4,670 m high.

We descend from the cabin, inside the station. On one side is a door that indicates the exit to the Pico Espejo.

In front of us a beautiful walkway makes its way, showing us the route through a part of the mountain until we reach the point where the Virgen de las Nieves emerges white and beautiful.

The monument of the Virgen de las Nieves is made up of an impressive Carrara marble sculpture, three and a half meters high.

She is looking towards the city of Merida with open arms and is the patron saint of climbers and mountaineers.

It was placed at the top of the Pico Espejo, on September 12, 1965.

The blizzard, the contrasting snow that contrasts with the dark brown of the mountain rock, the silence only interrupted by the admiring comments of tourists. Everything there is wonderful.

You can no longer see the villages of the moor, nor the tiny city as the mountain looked from the station.

Only the snow, the mist and the sky surround us, under the protective gaze of the Virgen de las Nieves.

Tourists generally have a good time at this station, going over and over the path to the Virgen de la Nieves monument, taking photos of the landscape, making snowballs, and then warming up with a creamy hot chocolate or good coffee. loaded and thus undertake the return journey.

🔴De vuelta otra vez en la cabina comenzamos a ver nuestro punto de llegada la estación "Pico Espejo" en la cima de la montaña del mismo nombre a 4.670 m de altura.

Descendemos de la cabina, dentro de la estación. A un lado se ve una puerta que indica la salida hacia el Pico Espejo.

Al abrir la puerta... La visión es simplemente maravillosa y el frío abrasador.

Delante de nosotros se abre camino una hermosa pasarela que nos muestra el recorrido a través de una parte de la montaña hasta llegar al punto donde emerge blanca y hermosa la Virgen de las Nieves.

El monumento de la Virgen de las Nieves esta compuesto por una impresionante escultura de mármol de Carrara, con una altura de tres metros y medio de altura.

Se encuentra mirando hacia la ciudad de Merida con los brazos abiertos y es la patrona de los andinistas y montañistas.

Se colocó en la cúspide del Pico Espejo, el 12 de septiembre de 1965.

La ventisca, la nieve que contrasta que contrasta con el café oscuro de la roca de la montaña, el silencio solo interrumpido por los comentarios de admiración de los turistas. Allí todo es maravilloso.

Ya no se ven los pueblitos del páramo, ni la ciudad diminuta como se veía desde la estación la montaña.

Solo nos rodea la nieve, la neblina y el cielo, bajo la mirada protectora de la Virgen de las Nieves.

Generalmente los turistas pasan un buen rato en esta estación, recorriendo una y otra vez el sendero hasta el monumento de la Virgen de la Nieves, tomando fotos del paisaje, haciendo bolas de nieve, para luego calentarse con un cremoso chocolate caliente o un café bien cargado y así emprender el trayecto de regreso.
