Photography- Millipede
I have taken some shots of this species, which is known as millepede. There are many varieties of millipede, but this one is very common. A millipede is different from a centipede-- you can notice two pair of legs in each body segment in a millipede whereas in centipede there is one one pair of leg in each body segment.
Their body segments are like compartments and therefore when they move they look like a small train. Natue is truly wonderful. I find this species as very shy and docile. To capture a macro shot of such moving small species requires a lot of skill and I don't have that skill.
So finally I tried a way to stop its movement and took the shot. I took the shots handheld. A tripod would have yield better result.
The millipedes are generally found in deciduous forests. I found this particular one in a nearby forest. They were plenty in numbers. Their length is generally found up to 20 cm.
The millipedes generally feed on decomposed matter, such as decomposed leaves, feces, etc.
The shape of millipedes are mostly cylindrical, however bulky structured or flattened body may also be available. They generally love moist and humid conditions.
Note- I did not harm this species, just to stop its movement, I took the help of a very small stick.
