With Barely a Flutter
the ugly
voices
anxiety
excuses
they lie
siphon the spirit
thin the skin
dissolve sinew
corrode the bone
grey the lion's main
turn your roar
to a snivelling, sniffling
whimper
a whine
hover above
the mundane
future angst
petty gripes
the phoenix
burns the pitch
to light her way
mounts the low
to inhabit the sky
encircles
embraces
renews her world
with barely a flutter
