GREY-WASHING & CLEARCOATING

in GEMS2 years ago

This takes a lot of effort.

When I started this project, I had no idea what I was in for. The goal was to take old, discarded fence pickets and upcycle them to give my family some new interior walls. To accomplish this, I had to cut each end of the pickets, then run them through my table saw eight times each, to get the proper lapping effect so they'd lock together. Next was sanding them all, and then grey-washing, which meant diluting some grey water-based paint and applying it to the boards before wiping the excess off. Now it's time to clear coat them all...

Soon, they should be on the wall. I must say that despite the incredible amount of effort I'm putting into this project, I really do like the look of the boards. We'll see how it works out. Enjoy the photos!
