Happy Earth Day

Well I have been on this old green and blue rock of ours for over half a century, and I have to say I am quite fond of it. Nothing gets me more grounded and relaxed, centered actually, than spending some time in nature.

Since today is Earth Day, I thought I would share a few photos as well as a few thoughts on our Pale Blue Dot. Of course I borrowed that from the former Earth dweller, Carl Sagan who convinced NASA to use the Voyager 1 to take a final photo of Earth from a long, long ways away...

It has been said that astronomy is humbling, and I would say that the photo of the tiny blue dot is very humbling! 400 years ago Galileo Galilei saw through his telescope that the Earth is not the center of the universe. Although he was subjected to an Inquisition by the Church for heresy for saying that the Earth revolves around the Sun, we now know he was right! Yet for now, this is our home and we should take care of it...its the only one we have!

How people can just dump trash out the car window while going down the road I have no idea. Makes one wonder what their house is like inside!

Once the weather gets gets above freezing (OMG does Michigan weather ever suck!) I plan to get back out and doing some Trash Thursday videos where I try to make picking up trash at least slightly fun or entertaining lol.

Well I hope everyone is having a pretty decent hump day! Funny with living the lock down life, it seems as if the days tend to run together!

Now I think a bit of levity is in order for these dark days of the virus. When thinking of Earth day, this bit by the late George Carlin popped into mind. It has some vulgar language and if you are easily offended just skip it. In a nutshell he is just saying the Earth will be fine long after we humans are gone. The Earth has been around for billions of years and has seen worse than us. We humans are the ones on the way out. I think this virus just showed us how very fragile life really is.

Be well, my friends

Those sure are some FAT polliwogs !

I read something a long time back, I forget where, where someone was saying earth was alive and humans were to it like fleas on a dog. She's always trying to shake or wash us off. It was fun to ponder that a few moments. LOL

Lol I would say that is about right. I guess the universe believes in recycling and will recycle us when the time is right. Hope you are doing good. Give me a yell if you ever have the time.
