All of us are going through a tough time in our lives. This is not how most of us are used to, being confined to a space. Lockdown is difficult especially with a risk on health otherwise, but we can make use of this time inside to bring out our talents, hobbies and interests online.

Maybe you love to write, or express through your photographs, videos or art. It is the perfect time to showcase them. So, in this time, when we are restricted to have our loved ones come over, let’s bring our lives close to them, virtually.

This is also an economically difficult time with most of our jobs in uncertainty. The last thing you need right now is to spend a little more for your blogs and other content. So, here is a list of some of the best places to kick start your blog for free and still expect a small revenue in return.

Hey, maybe not just family and loved ones, maybe there are many others who would find it interesting. And maybe, someone else on the other side of the world would find your art useful. Or, it may cheer up someone feeling low and alone at this time.

One big benefit of these sites are an existing audience and users who can be your potential followers too. It's the community that matters when you share your content.

So, here are a few sites where you can start writing or sharing your content.

MEDIUM

Medium needs no introduction to many of us. Most of us might have read at least an article on this white shiny site. Or, maybe already follow a few favourite authors. Medium is a great place to start your blogs.

Even Though you can not have a domain name of your own on Medium, you can have your own profile. The editor is pretty simple to use and you can include images, videos and external links on your posts.

Say you want to show the world how you are planting during your stay at home time, update their growth and such. You can upload a video on YouTube or somewhere and also share it on your medium post.

Why do this extra step? Medium already has an active user base. These are people who scroll on Medium everyday to consume fresh content. So, why not present your content to those who are on the lookout for new content in your niche?!

You can also make a revenue from Medium. Medium offers a partner program to their users and also a membership program. In addition, they also have a curation program by Medium editors. So, maybe you can earn a little from your content. But more about that later. Now, let’s get started with the blogging.

Hive.io

Hive.io is a blogging platform that lets you publish your blogs to the Hive blockchain. It is a relatively new blogging platform but a replica of an already existing site, Steemit. We have already talked about Steemit and how to join Steemit in our previous blogs. If you already have an account on Steem before March 20th of 2020, you can access Hive.io using those credentials.

You can start a fresh account on Hive through different channels. There are different options which offer free account creation, instant ones and paid options. Eventually you will be using many Dapps built on Hive for better experience. But, for now, let’s get started and get to know around.

Hive also rewards the content creator and curators using the cryptocurrency HIVE, HIVE power or HIVE based dollars. If you are very new to the crypto world, this would be a good start to get to know cryptocurrencies, decentralization and blockchain technology.

Hive offers a lot of content on many topics and also has active communities. In fact, it was the power of the communities that helped form Hive.io. This is a good option to build and grow your blog.

Steemit

We have already talked a lot about Steemit in the previous blogs, how to start a blog on Steemit and related topics. However, after the creation of the Hive blockchain, the status of Steemit is very uncertain.

You can choose one or both of these blockchains for publishing your content.

The above mentioned are sites that offer a blogging platform for a variety of topics. If you are interested in more niche topics like travel blogging, try TravelFeed.io.TravelFeed.io offers a free blogging platform for travelers and they also let you push your content to different blockchains.

Appics is another Dapp which we have already mentioned in our previous blogs. Appics is a blockchain replica of Instagram where you can post photographs and get rewarded with Appics token and Steem.

Actifit is a good dapp to share your fitness routine and get inspired to keep up with a healthy lifestyle. DTube is a blockchain alternative for YouTube which allows you to share your videos and rewards with their token and other cryptocurrencies.

Uptrennd

Uptrennd is a site where you can publish your content and can be rewarded. The core value of Uptrennd is giving back the freedom of speech to the people. Since I have less experience with Uptrennd, we are keeping it for another blog to share more details about this platform.

There is always a long list of applications in the digital space. But, these are the best sites in my opinion to start publishing your content online in 2020.

On a side note: It is perfectly alright to be not loaded with tasks. This is also a great time to catch up with your favourite creators or read a book that you have been postponing or complete that lesson you wanted to take. As much as there is free time in hand now, all that matters is you stay healthy mentally and physically.

We will get through this together 💪
