Square's Cash App was getting its lunch eaten by PayPal's Venmo in terms of usage and new downloads.

Going back to 2014, Venmo was more heavily downloaded in every quarter.

Then, in mid 2017 something very interesting happened.

Square decided to enable bitcoin purchases, and guess what happened?

Since that announcement and change, Cash App has seen more downloads than Venmo in every single quarter since.

Now that is a truly amazing stat when you think about it! They haven't been beaten even one quarter since.
