Whales in Patagonia.

The southern right whale is the protagonist of the Patagonian sightings. During the winter and the arrival of spring, a large number of whales approach the Valdés peninsula region, mainly the San José and Nuevo gulfs, in the province of Chubut.

From the first days of May to the first of November, hundreds of right whales come to mate and reproduce, some already with their young, from different points in the cold southern seas. Hence its name Eubalaena Australis, whose morphology is recognized by the naked eye by those who make the sightings.

Dark-bodied, grayish and blackish, plump and without a dorsal fin, the right whale has certain calluses on its large head that allow it to be distinguished from one another and which in turn are a kind of distinctive icon of this type of cetacean.
