El oro es uno de los metales que mejores resultados nos ha dado, ya que por ser dúctil y maleable sus características pricipales, nos ha facilitado la realización de prótesis e incrustaciones, sumado a eso sus propiedades químicas, mecánicas y físicas, como 0 corrosión, no se desgasta con facilidad, y su biocompatibilidad, es duraderos y no tienden a fracturarse fácilmente, por lo que no supone un riesgo para la salud.

Gold is one of the metals that has given us the best results, since its ductile and malleable main characteristics have made it easier for us to make prostheses and inlays. In addition, its chemical, mechanical and physical properties, such as 0 corrosion, do not wear out easily, and its biocompatibility, is durable and does not tend to fracture easily, so it does not pose a health risk.

El problema de este material, es que fue perdiendo popularidad a medida que salían al mercado nuevos materiales más estéticos y mas económicos.

The problem with this material is that it became less popular as new, more aesthetic and cheaper materials came onto the market.

Por estas dos razones principalmente se dejo de utilizar el oro en la realización de prótesis e incrustaciones, la estética y el costo.

For these two main reasons gold was no longer used in the making of prostheses and inlays, aesthetics and cost.

Pero últimamente hay un boom de la moda entre cantantes de hip hop, música urbana entre otros, por mostrar dientes dorados, estas son unas incrustaciones removibles, que ahora se han vuelto muy populares en USA y se ha ampliado a Europa.

But lately there is a fashion boom among hip hop singers, urban music among others, for showing golden teeth, these are removable inlays, which have now become very popular in the U.S. and has expanded to Europe.

Solo se toma una impresión del paciente y se envían al laboratorio y se hacen una especie de fundas que arropan al diente quedando completamente cubierto por el material. Solo son de uso estético y son de costo muy elevados.

Only an impression of the patient is taken and they are sent to the laboratory and a kind of cover is made that wraps the tooth completely covered by the material. They are only for aesthetic use and are very expensive.
