I made the most out of lock-down by starting a Math channel
I have started a youtube channel to teach secondary level maths, it's something I've been meaning to do for years, it just took a pandemic to give me the kick in the ass.
I am about a third of the way through the course here is an example from my 'learning quadratics' playlist
Deriving the quadratic equation
As well as classes I do video solutions to old exams, attempting past papers are a great way to study Maths.
Here's a question you can try, followed by the video solution, question 1 paper 1 from the higher level 2019 exam
My videos are not very polished yet but I hope to improve on the weaker ones and add more resources once I finish the course. I also plan to put it all together on a web page, so you can search by topic, get lessons with past exams and solutions.
I doubt the channel will ever take off but it is enjoyable as a hobby, and I think it improves my teaching skills.
Any feed back would be great.
P.S
I also do Maths grinds and I have been surprised at how easy they have been to move online, not traveling to peoples houses will allow me to do more. Does anyone know how I could advertise this? There must be some forum online that caters for something like this, I just can't find it.
