Steam events going downhill

Ever since the gems update, Valve has had major problems with user abuse. At that time, people found out how to duplicate stacks of gems, who would then sell those to other users for the big bucks. It did not hurt Valve financially, but it hurt events' reputation.

Every event ever since has offered some kind of reward. Points you can trade in for store discounts, extra event cards or even free titles given to anyone who completes certain tasks. Users found a way to abuse each of those things. Valve has become increasingly more careful over time.

But then they gave up completely. This Spring Cleaning event offers zero rewards except a badge you can get by playing some of your own games you haven't touched in a while.

It's cool in concept and execution, but thoroughly disappointing compared to what we've had in the past. It is the second time we are not awarded almost anything for participating. I guess we've all become spoiled. We shouldn't complain about not getting free stuff.

Spring Cleaning

Most of the categories seem bland and boring, but I like Time Machine and All Random suggestions. Valve has recently refined their profile and game analytics tools, so it makes sense they're showing them off.

The above are the first three games I've owned on my decade-old Steam account. I think the fourth purchase was Gumball Crazy Adventures, which taught me not to buy something just because it is on sale... Yep, I'm a Steam user for life.
