Saludos preciada audiencia, el día de hoy les quiero compartir la historia de cómo conocí a Albi, el primer gato que tuve.

Greetings dear audience, today I want to share the story of how I met Albi, the first cat I had.

Todo comenzó el 21 de agosto del 2015, habían pasado varios días en que escuchábamos diariamente el agudo maullido de un gatito joven en el patio de nuestra casa, algunas veces yo había logrado salir a tiempo de la casa para verlo antes de que él continuara su rumbo, pero ese día en particular, decidí acercarme a él de forma que no me viera como una amenaza.

Él era un gatito bastante tímido ante personas desconocidas, sin embargo, le gustaba llamar la atención con sus maullidos cada vez que se acercaba a la casa aunque, salía huyendo cuando alguien se aproximaba a él, así que, ¿cómo romper esa brecha que nos separaba?

It all started on August 21, 2015, several days had passed when we heard the sharp meow of a young kitten daily in the front yard of our house, sometimes I had managed to get out of the house in time to see it before he continued his course, but on that particular day, I decided to approach him so that he wouldn't see me as a threat.

He was a rather shy kitten in front of strangers, however, he liked to draw attention with his meows every time he approached the house, although he ran away when someone approached him, so how to break that gap that separated us?

Se me ocurrió lo más simple de todo, atraerlo con una carnada muy obvia, un pequeño envase con un poquito de leche. Al escuchar sus maullidos, noté que estaba en la acera frente a la puerta que da al garaje de nuestra casa, así que me acerqué despacio y coloqué el envase con leche en la rampa del garaje, tratando de llamar su atención para que el gatito pudiera observar que yo estaba dejando algo en ese lugar.

Me alejé despacio, subí la rampa y me coloqué junto al vehículo de mi tía, esperando que mi carnada funcionase y en efecto, ¡funcionó! El pequeño gatito se acercó y comenzó a beber de la leche que le había servido.

I came up with the simplest thing of all, lure him with a very obvious bait, a small container with a little milk. Hearing his meows, I noticed that he was on the sidewalk in front of the door that leads to the garage of our house, so I slowly walked over and placed the container with milk on the garage ramp, trying to get his attention so that the kitten could observe that I was leaving something in that place.

I walked away slowly, went up the ramp, and stood next to my aunt's vehicle, hoping that my bait would work and it did indeed! The little kitten approached and began to drink from the milk that had been served.

Comencé a acercarme a él lentamente, estando agachado y sin realizar movimientos bruscos, hasta una distancia de un metro. El gatito sabía que yo estaba allí, pues me observaba eventualmente mientras me aproximaba.

Le extendí lentamente la mano, tratando que me olfateara, con la intención de que no se sintiera amenazado con mi presencia. Ante esto, se acercó a mí y dejó que lo acariciara para luego darse vuelta y seguir bebiendo la leche que aún quedaba en el envase.

Me fuí retirando despacio, para no interrumpirlo mientras él continuaba saciando su sed y cuando ya estaba frente al vehículo de mi tía, fue una grata sorpresa ver que me estaba siguiendo, el pequeño gatito decidió entrar al garaje y seguirme mientras yo me alejaba, pero cuando me intenté acercar a él, se dió la vuelta y se fue de la casa.

I began to approach him slowly, being crouched, and without making sudden movements, up to a distance of one meter. The kitten knew I was there, eventually watching me as I approached.

I slowly extended my hand to him, trying to get him to sniff me, with the intention that he would not feel threatened by my presence. At this, he approached me and let me caress him and then turn around and continue drinking the milk that was still in the container.

I left slowly, so as not to interrupt while he continued to quench his thirst and when I was already in front of my aunt's vehicle, it was a pleasant surprise to see that he was following me, the little kitten decided to enter the garage and follow me while I was walking away, but when I tried to get closer to him, he turned and left the house.

Horas más tarde regresó el pequeño gatito, llamando la atención en el patio de la casa mientras maullaba. Me apresuré a salir para volver a verlo y en esta ocasión no salió huyendo, es más, se acercó a mí de forma amistosa permitiendo que lo acariciara de nuevo e incluso, lo llegué a cargar entre mis brazos.

Hours later the little kitten returned, drawing attention in the courtyard of the house while meowing. I rushed out to see him again and this time he did not run away, indeed, he approached me in a friendly way allowing me to caress him again and I even carried him in my arms.

Lo llevé dentro de la casa para mostrárselo a mi primo y a mi tía, entonces le pregunté a ella si lo podíamos conservar y luego de muchos minutos de haberlo pensado (debido a que ella no quería tener mascotas en la casa), ella aceptó que nos quedáramos con el gatito.

Por su coloración, mi tía se refirió al gatito como "albino" y con ese simple comentario, se decidió el nombre del nuevo miembro de la familia, Albi. 🐱❤️

I took it inside the house to show it to my cousin and my aunt, then I asked her if we could keep it and after many minutes of thinking about it (because she did not want to have pets in the house), she accepted that we let's stay with the kitten.

Due to its coloration, my aunt referred to the kitten as "albino" and with that simple comment, the name of the new member of the family, Albi, was decided.🐱❤️
