EACH DROP OF WATER IS A DROP OF LIFE. | VISITING RESERVOIRS 🚰

in GEMS4 years ago

Greetings Community @gems!

In many regions, people have to travel long distances in search of a negligible amount of water, which is not always of good quality. The World Health Organization estimates that 80% of human diseases are due to lack of access to adequate water for human consumption.

"Water has become a very precious resource. There are places where a barrel of water costs more than a barrel of oil ”,
by Lloyd Axworthy.

Whenever I have the opportunity, I teach my daughter about fresh water and its importance. The best teaching I can always offer you is to take you to some reservoirs that supply towns and cities.

Where is the water?

Salt water prevails on Earth, around 97.5%, while fresh water represents only 2.5% of the total. Amazing right?

Of the percentage of fresh water present on Earth, 69.5% is frozen in the polar ice caps, 29.5% is underground and less than 1% is fully available for human consumption.

Within this 1% of available water, we face problems with pollution and especially with unrestricted waste in consumption, factors that make it clear that all are responsible for the habits that must be assumed to reduce the damage caused by poor drinking water. that still remains.

One of the things that bothers me is seeing a faulty pipeline wasting water. At home we avoid to the maximum the waste of it. This must be the common denominator of the entire world population.

Sediment deposition in rivers, lakes and oceans, and thermal pollution resulting from the use of water in cooling systems in industries and thermoelectric plants are also agents that cause pollution and a shortage of drinking water.

This pipe is the one that supplies the drinking water of the municipality where I live, it is a source that seems inexhaustible but it is not, the excessive use of it can cut its life cycle.

More than showing some images, my wish is that we become very aware of this precious asset that God and Mother Nature have given us.

Remember the figures described at the top of this post. Only 1% .

"The value of the water is not appreciated until the well is dried”.
