Submarine base ... former
The submarine was slowly disappearing from the bay ... Now only its tail remained visible to a curious observer. Tail and smoke from diesel engines. Traces of smoke are still visible on the granite of the rock. Yes, the submarine went inside the cliff. This is Balaklava, baby. At one time, a strictly secure city, a submarine base and much more. Now the bay is packed with private boats, yachts, motor boats and ... tourists.
Подводная лодка медленно исчезала из бухты... Вот уже только её хвост оставался виден любопытному наблюдателю. Хвост и дым от работы дизелей. Следы дыма и сейчас видны на граните скалы. Да, подводная лодка заходила внутрь скалы. Это Балаклава, детка. В своё время строго режимный город, база подводных лодок и много чего ещё. Сейчас бухта забита частными катерами, яхтами, моторными лодками и...туристами.
We did not wander around Balaklava itself. A smart one will not go uphill, a smart one will bypass a mountain (Russian proverb). I went up the hill. There are beautiful views from there, and you can take a look at the city and the surrounding area.
По самой Балаклаве мы не бродили. Умный в гору не пойдёт, умный гору обойдёт (русская пословица). Я в гору пошёл. Оттуда как раз и виды открываются, можно и на город поглазеть и окрест.

По гребню сопки (горой назвать язык не поворачивается) тянутся древние развалины фортификации. Кто-то от кого-то оборонялся. Генуэзская крепость Чембало.
