EDAT a Hope Project for Venezuela

Hi people! Hope all of you be fine, sharing with family and friends and be safe in this times.

I would like to talk about a very interesting project I have been part since foundation.

With the support of ScanandMake we have been founded "EDAT" that is a professional school of #Design and #TechnologicalCraftsmanship that is about to open its doors in #Merida #Venezuela. EDAT means in Spanish "Escuela de Diseño y Artesanía Tecnológica"

It is something awesome, because Venezuela is experiencing one of its worst social and economic crises ever seen in decades. Having the opportunity to found a design school like EDAT allows a window of hope for people who would find it difficult to access this type of education. On the other hand, it has been a very difficult year for all of us where the problem of the pandemic has had a negative impact on the world economy. Being able to start this project in the middle of a pandemic is something extraordinary.

EDAT is the only school in #Venezuela that would train #Makers, as we believe #creativity and #localproduction are the direct ways towards designing a more fair and dignified future for all.

Following the educational approach of the German #Hochschule, our method is primarly focused on the development of creativity and technical skills and not only in theoretical knowledge.

At EDAT our student will be able to develop project like this chair (image below) cut an CNC milling machine. It is just an example of we are going to teach at EDAT
